So Arcade Fire....

Blackpool may be famous for its many arcades, but for one night only it became Arcade Fire's playground.

Wearing outsized papier mache heads, the band boarded Blackpool's tram system and were greeted by waiting fans, who had been asked wear fancy dress for the gig, at the town's Empress Ballroom.

They walked through the town with a Mariachi band, playing the title track of their recent number one album Reflektor.

The procession, like the record, was inspired by the band's experiences in Haiti.

"We wanted to translate the spirit of something we'd experienced at carnival in Haiti to a way people back home would understand it," frontman Win Butler recently told Time Out. "It was the first time I enjoyed dancing as part of a huge crowd."

The Canadian rockers followed in the footsteps of Jay-Z and Rihanna, who have taken the Tube to their London concerts in the past.

The BBC's Colin Paterson accompanied them on their parade.
