The Souljazz Orchestra Newsletter:

"Inner Fire", coming out on Strut Records this month!

Just to get you properly psyched, we got out the turntables, patched em to our old Roland Space Echo unit, and put together a crazy mind-blowing seven-minute Mini-Mix, jam-packed with as many Souljazz Orchestra tunes as we could! A crash-course in Souljazz history if you will, including some sneak previews of the new Inner Fire LP, for the very first time! You can check it out here:

The Souljazz Orchestra - Souljazz History Mini-Mix

Not sure if you saw this either, we recorded our own bumpin' rendition of the 1971 Andy Bey spiritual soul-jazz classic "Celestial Blues", belted out by our lovely percussionist Marielle Rivard. Wax Poetics magazine just premiered the video we did for it - we put it together from vintage public-domain NASA astronomy documentaries, the kind we used to watch in class as kids - check it out, it's pretty dope:

You can check out the Wax Poetics article here too, they get into the nitty-gritty behind the track:

There's been crazy buzz about this album too... DJ Gilles Peterson of the BBC just spun it this week on his show, alongside new stuff from Quantic, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Adrian Younge (he just did a cool track with Souls of Mischief, they're back!) You can still stream the archived show here:

Radio Nova, FIP Radio, and Funkhaus Europa in Europe have all been going full tilt as well (just to name a few), and we really just started sending stuff out to radio, we're not even done yet!

So the "Inner Fire" international release tour starts next week, starting with three shows in La Belle Province (Gatineau, Québec, Montréal - oui papa!), continuing on to our home province of Ontario (Kingston, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa), and then we fly over to Europe, where we'll be hitting up the UK, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Turkey. Tour dates in Europe aren't completely finalized yet, we'll let you know when they are.
