bouche
From what I previously read, it sounded like Eugene made a handshake deal for a vast chunk of the sale. Does that mean he's completely screwed?
Freak By Night
A sad loss for the local music community. I haven't set foot in the place in over 10 years, but it was my regular haunt in the early to mid 1990s. Plus they brought moe. to town just over 20 years ago. Rob Not Bob
The best concert of my life was Black Mountain at Zaphod's , last year. First gig I ever played was opening for Lost Prophets at Zaphod's . This makes my heart hurt. Booche
Booche
Best show I ever saw there by far was performed by this Danish band, Under Byen. There were perhaps 10-15 people and they crushed the joint. I'll always remember Zaphods for that show alone.
Freak By Night
Embarrassed to admit that I saw Nickelback there. But that was before it was cool to hate them. Other memorable shows for me at Zaphods include Monster Magnet and I Mother Earth.
Velvet
Actually, a Bob Wiseman show at Zaphod's is among my top three concerts ever, and the time I saw Look People there stands as the weirdest night of live music I've ever seen or heard of. Nostril shrimp diving, two ice cream cones up the drummers butt, and oh, so much more. Booche
bouche
officially announced This comes off strange, as the current owner's farewell message is hijacking the positive legacy over the failure to live up to promise and commitment to the legacy of Eugene. Quote Hello friends, For over 26 years Zaphod Beeblebrox has helped grow and nourish Ottawa’s local music and nightclub scene. As a live music venue we have hosted thousands of local and international acts spanning virtually every genre. As a dance club we’ve tried to provide a safe, inclusive and fun environment for all people regardless of age, gender, race or sexual preference. We believe in fair treatment, fair prices and good service. Zaphod’s is a place where you can dance, laugh, love and not worry about judgement from others. Zaphod’s was shaped and molded by YOU the customer as much as by the music we played, the artists we hosted and the amazingly dedicated staff who were themselves patrons before they joined our team. There’s a reason that the staff hardly ever turned over – we are family and we believe in the “Phod’s”. That being said, these are uncertain economic times and we have struggled to avoid a decision that will affect so many lives: that on May 14th, 2017 Zaphod Beeblebrox will close it’s doors for the last time. We want to say a heartfelt THANK-YOU to everyone who helped bring us this far – the bands, artists, artisans, DJs, promoters, management companies, press, media, product reps, vendors, sponsors, maintenance crews, all the wonderful staff (PAST + PRESENT), management, ownership and especially YOU the patrons. If you’ve ever attended a gig, hit the dancefloor, double-tapped a shot of Jager, or even yelled “BINGO!” – we sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts. That being said, we hope to see you before the end so we can share a drink and a laugh! See you at the bar. With love, All of us at Zaphod Beeblebrox XO
Northern Wish
I saw Magnolia Electric Co. (Jason Molina) there. I am so glad I ventured out alone that evening. RIP JM. Booche
