c-towns 166 Report post Posted January 7, 2020 Any of you folks have any leads on housing in Ottawa? A very good friend of mine and his wife are moving to town on March 1st. They have been in South Korea for the last 8 years working. They are hoping to find something near Carlton U. Let me know if you know anyone or if you have any suggestions. Davey Boy 2.0 199 Report post Posted January 9, 2020 Most homes in that area are over a million but if you're patient you might find something for 500-600ish
c-towns 166 Report post Posted January 10, 2020 My bad. They are looking to rent something. Guess I should have said more with less.
Davey Boy 2.0 199 Report post Posted January 13, 2020 vacancy rates are pretty low generally but the good news is that a train line goes through Carleton U so any neighbourhoods along on that trainline are worth checking out- green one here
c-towns 166 Report post Posted March 11, 2020 My buddy just moved into the Alta Vista hood. Any recommendations for restaurants or live music venues or other cool things in that area? Are there any weekly or monthly jams or open mics or bands you guys can recommend in the Ottawa area?

phorbesie 90 Report post Posted March 12, 2020 Sorry, I'm really not aware of anything cool in the Alta Vista area. (It's a residential area)

phorbesie 90 Report post Posted March 13, 2020 There's lots of box stores? Hehe
Freak By Night 37 Report post Posted March 13, 2020 The "Overflow Brewing Company" is in the Alta Vista area. I've never been there but they have live bands every weekend. Maybe not now with COVID-19. But probably worth checking out if/when the pandemic is over. Not to be sarcastic, but do your friends not have internet access? They've never used google? Google searches for "live music venues or other cool things in the alta vista area" or "weekly or monthly jams or open mics or bands in the Ottawa area". will return enough results to keep them occupied for awhile. c-towns 166 Report post Posted March 13, 2020 Ya, the internet is quite a tool to use. I am asking here for specific jam/music fan related input or recommendations from local folks who's opinions mean a little more to me than "the internet's" Thanks for your recommendation. phorbesie 90 Report post Posted March 13, 2020 Yep, I get you. Plus, I'll take all the posts anyone cares to make! Sorry I can't be of any help though. But yeah, as bouche said Irene's is great and I think they do have an open mic night but I don't know which night that is. In other news, it appears that I picked the right year to move to a remote island and stop going to concerts! 1 bouche reacted to this
edger 107 Report post Posted March 14, 2020 Where are ya living phorbesie? Hard to get through tough times without live music....curious what this whole experience is like from a presumably quieter space. Sorry for the hijack
