guigsy
shit.. the 23rd!!! its my moms birthday! ok, lets make this a 2-parter... anyone else have to wish someone a happy birthday today? now the real Q.... i gather the last couple days has meant a lot to some people on this board and in this community, from an important historical standpoint as it pertains to the Grateful Dead and a series of shows they did in Hamilton... for me, it is hard to stop on one show and say this is my absolute favourite show of all time, but there are definately pockets of shows that i always go back to... does anyone have a favourite portion of a show that they love to listen to? you know, you put a show on, and you just wait for YOUR part... or skip up to it...whatever... anyone? for me, i think my favourite portion of a show, or one that i always seem to be putting on these days is the tail end of the 2nd set from 6.11.76, Boston Music Hall, Boston Ma... Sugaree, Sugar Mag > Eyes of the World > Stella Blue > Sunshine Daydream for me, it just seems to make a hell of a lot of sense. have a great march 23rd everyone! scott

bradm
The opening few tracks of Dick's Picks Vol. 12 do it for me. CD1 of this volume is the one that moved into a "mode" capable of playing along (albeit in my limited and humble way, mind you) with Jerry Garcia's playing. I put this disc on, strap on the guitar, and start bopping around the room, loving every second of what I'm playing and hearing. Aloha, Brad
kung
The whole you're favourite show part is pretty hard to gauge. I do find when I scan my mind I end up visualizing Sugarbush '94 and enjoy listening to it by virtue of the release. The boys looked really tired and evil frankly and their was alot going on that makes it a very visual memory. The favourite portion would be Antelope> Catapult> Antelope- pure evil. AdamH
I'm gonna put the Grateful Dead aside..It's not so much in the listening pool these days so it's hard to say or remember although for the right moments and once in a blue moon I'd say 8/27/72 and 8/6/74 have their merits. In the world of The Slip perhaps my favorite show was my first...at Evolve, two years ago. Hearing what sounded like interesting songs and rhythms, and as the mushrooms took me off my feet and out of my head realizing I had found "perfect" music..not from perfection's sake but that for me personally it was giving me all the aural sex I wanted and then some. guigsy
the same thing happened to me the first (only) time i ever saw the Slip. i've been re-living it like crazy in recent weeks.
mulvee
The whole Phish Vernon Downs show. That could be because the Talking Heads are on the radio right now and it reminded me of all the covers they played that night.
