    Shout Box

you want it back? I thought it was a waste of space.
  8. seriously unbelievable timing. the house we put an offer on received a competing offer. That night, we tied one on at the burma benefit and forgot about the major decision we were faced with. Would we drop our condition and buy the house without having a sale on ours? The very next morning we had a call with an offer. We sent back the counter offer and they signed the papers. woohoo!

    "HAVINBEERS"

I have the white stuff. I'm willing to take your advice though with the 7 year. I would really like the 12 year stuff that I tasted in Cuba 2.5 years ago, but I think that's meant to be consumed clean. the thing about white havana is that you can pour as much as you want and it never turns rummy on you.
  14. i know I said this half drunk last night, but I'm really amazed and proud of my cuz for pulling off that feat last night. In such a short amount of time you: 1. nailed 3 killer acts 2. flew in a major headliner 3. booked a show at barrymores on a saturday night 4. pulled off a top notch silent auction (that was a really good auction!) 5. received pre-press from ottawa citizen, cbc radio, tv and internet sites like jambands.ca I would put my money and time towards any event that you put on in the future. You are very good at this. Hey, wanna help me put on a show for October? so thank you very much for putting that together. as a side note, the bartenders were telling me to take the tips I was leaving to the Burma jar. amazing.

  16. If you ever get a chance, go visit Lauzon's Music. I popped in yesterday to say hi to papa dave and he gave me a little tour of the coolest additions to their collection. A Moog synth was about $3800 and super amazing. Dave made it sing with only a few keypresses and knob turnings. But the real treasure was the this piece of art. I played some C and Fmaj7 on it. woohoo! one of these are at Lauzon's.
  17. I'm not sure why pork and pineapple always go good together. Maybe the Hawaiians are a more advanced civilization than the rest of the planet, but nothing beats that marriage of fruit and meat. I'm playing with a pork tenderloin tonight and some fresh pineapple. I've the pork cubed and marinating in soy, ginger, garlic, molasses, and pineapple juice. I plan to skewer the meat chunks with alternating pineapple chunks and some red onion bits. I might even drizzle a little balsamic glaze on the pineapple before grilling. I'm really looking forward to the black caramelized layers from the grill.
  18. http://www.foodeeze.com is up and running. I was intending on using the blog as a spot to keep recipes for myself so I had a place to store everything that I need to remember for future meals. However, I decided to transfer the domain name foodeeze.com to point to the blog and maybe get some passionate foodies here to add more content worth sharing together. all you need is a blogger account and I can add you as a contributer. who's in? the goals: 1. add your favourite recipes that you'd like to share 2. take lots of photos and upload them 3. restaurant visits. share your dining out experiences. always bring your point-and-shoot to every restaurant meal! 4. menus. take menues from your favourite restaurants and type/scan them in 5. other sites. share your favourite links to other food resources. I can setup an RSS feed for the ones that provide feeds (check out the side bar). 6. any other suggestions that are easy to put up on a blog. i dare anyone to try Myrna's Spaghetti sauce recipe and tell me what you think. IMHO, it really is an amazing sauce despite the odd set of ingredients. I've been eating it my entire life without knowing the secret and it's been revealed now.
  19. bob wiseman was great. I loved the other bands. The Tony D trio (monkey junk) had some sweet bluesy rock. Bradm suggested them paired up with Bullmoose as a killer show and he'd be right. The last band, "The Murder Plains" need to be seen. I believe they are local, so we have something to be proud about in Ottawa. They were a huge surprise and kept us there. I thought we might leave after Wiseman, but these guys brought some game.
  20. seriously...that's a good call. sorry bradm.... no dibs for you on that band name !
  21. 5:07 AM? that's a new record!
  22. Angels and Demons is on track and being filmed, but it's not being filmed in Rome despite the storyline. That is a pretty damn good book if you like to be on edge. it just doesn't stop. I hope it works out on film.

    "HAVINBEERS"

a shot of havana club 3 or 4 mint leaves 2 tsp sugar 2 tbsp lime juice (freshly squeezed) 1 cup water (or sparkling) mash mint leaves in your glass for about 30 seconds with an implement. until you can smell the mint. add sugar, lime and rum. dissolve sugar as much as possible. add water. mmmm. facking good. our greek neighbour lady grows mint and it shoots up under the fence as fast as we can drink them.

  25. this is a great app for converting audio files. This sendspace that I stumbled upon has a serial number so it's fully functional to convert flacs to mp3's or what have you. if you like, buy the software. I have a license and i've been able to upgrade it for free for the last 3 years.
