  1. He's been around more recently than that. He played at Hamilton Place sometime within the last ten years. But yeah, Buffalo on a Monday night doesn't work for me, either.
  2. The Mapo Arts centre is NOT south of the river in Gangnam. It is 5 subway stops away from Itaewon near the Daeheung Station. It is a part of Sogang University. I don't think that's near Gangnam' date=' but I don't live here. So correct me if I am wrong Hamilton.[/quote'] Sorry, brain fart. I was thinking of the Yangjae Art Centre, which is exactly where I described. Mapo is indeed closer to Itaewon, which is nowhere near Gangnam. I have never been to the Mapo Art Centre at all. Maybe I should go to bed.
  3. I dunno - I didn't see Scofield in Seoul. I don't recall him being there when I was there; maybe he played after you arrived but before I returned. Mapo-gu is in the south end of town, past Gangnam-gu, if that helps.
  4. I wish a bunch of LGBTQ people would picket his funeral, but they're probably too classy to do so.
  5. Nice. Mayhap I shall attend. The Starlight in July should be good and sweaty.
  6. That's a great theatre! I saw Brad Mehldau play there once. Jim Hall, too. Have a great show!
  7. I would highly recommend Snarky Puppy to anyone with some spare time.
  8. I'm *assuming* that it's not just Leafs games; if it is, then maybe they just have someone with really slow reaction times in the control room. Most of the non-Leafs games I watch are usually on other networks, so I can't do a proper comparison. I've noticed that they tend to show more face-offs in the back half of the third period of close-scoring games because of the importance of those draws being won, but I can't fathom why they aren't showing all of them. Last night's game against Columbus cut back from a replay so late that the live play had already been whistled dead and the refs were going to the war room to see if the puck had crossed the line before the net came off its moorings. Grrr....
  9. Has anyone else noticed that Sportsnet pretty much skips every face-off all game long? After every whistle, it seems like they go to a replay (or an infographic, or just a fucking shot of a guy sitting on the bench) and by the time they come back the play is already well underway? TSN does this far less frequently, and CBC almost never does. Good thing that Rogers is about to control all the broadcast rights, despite not showing a key component of the game. Can you imagine if they had football broadcast rights? They'd probably skip showing the snaps. I think it's time to start a mass emailing complaint campaign. I mean, seriously, what the fuck? Last week, I counted 14 face-offs that I saw in the first two periods of the Leafs/Islanders game. When I checked Sportsnet's own box score page for the game, there had been 38 face-offs at that point. You suck, Rogers.

This may be helpful. Or not: Romanization of Korean alphabet
  11. Hmmm... don't think I've been to that venue before.
  12. Agreed - that's a great album! R.I.P. Mr. de Lucia. bONES: where in Seoul is McLaughlin playing?
  13. Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears = rather excellent.
  14. I guess Gregg was a little confused as to which members were leaving.
  15. Excellent fact checking from Gregg Allman?
  16. As much as I love Neil, and think the whole live album series he's been releasing over the years is freakin' awesome, I'm kind of itching for him to release something... else. There's already been several solo acoustic shows from the late '60s/early '70s. How about some Horse shows from '76? Or something from the '73-'75 era? Or a Bluenotes show? Or something from the Trans tour. Blow my mind, Neil. I know you have all this stuff somewhere. Having said all of that, I'm sure I will be purchasing this new album when it comes out next week.
  17. ... and I suppose there will be a whole new meaning attached to "Eat 'em raw!" for Sunday's game.

Bondaegi tastes pretty much exactly like you'd think it would. Buyer beware. Get some ohdang if you want some less-perilous street food.
  20. Here's a clever little cut-and-paste job:
