I too am rather surprised by your comments. Birdman has done a great deal for the music-loving community in this city. He has the best record store in town. Unfortunately I have been poor and semi-homeless and/or backpacking around Latin America for the last couple of years so I have not supported him for some time. This next month is tight for me too but if I can swing it I will try to buy at least a record or two. I'm moving into a new place next week & look forward to reuniting with my long-in-storage record collection and turntables. Did you ever go to Organized Sound? The other best record store in Ottawa that is no more? Birdman was next door.

Well, there weren't a lot of surprises in the first book, granted, but much more detail and color. You get to go inside the heads of the various main characters and learn a lot about how they think. It's how I came to root for Tyrion. The next four books, all 1000 pages or more, will be years in the making before they become a television series. And there is always the possibility that the TV show will end up being cancelled/delayed indefinitely due to cost overruns, like Carnivale & Mad Men. I didn't want to wait to get my next fix.

Tell me about it. I just finished reading Book Five so I'll have to wait a few years for my next fix. It was Season One that got me reading the books. They were the first fantasy novels I have read since leaving my teen years behind way back in the 1870's. (seems like)

I'm going. This promises to be a great night of music.

Stumbled upon the good folks at Gahan House last night here in Charlottetown. They make some tasty brews.

I like the farcebook but totally despise the way the ruined an already mediocre email system. Their latest tampering with the "message" system just blows. I remain to be convinced though... google has not fared well with their previous efforts in the social media world. I too can toss out any invites as needed.

Right on. I will definitely look for it when I get back to Ottawa.

I'm getting it on tap from a bar called Beer Brothers here in Regina. Beer Brothers has an insanely awesome selection of craft brews the likes of which I have never seen in Ottawa. The selection is phenomenal. The food is great as well. Staff are friendly and highly knowledgeable in beer lore. I stumbled upon them my first night in town and will keep going back until I leave for Winnipeg. A real beer lover's oasis on the Prairie. Link The actual tap menu is about five times as big as the online representation, and the bottled selection is enormous. I think it was destiny that brought me there.
