  1. No, other rumour-mongers. And be careful, he doesn't sound like a credible doctor to me.
  2. Apparently: Show at 8 Wristbands handed out at 6 Tickets $10 (?)
  3. There are rumours of a Prince show at Massey Hall tonight (Nov 4)
  4. This whole thread is pretty tasteless.
  5. Midnight is what Targ tweeted for Golden Dogs. But I have a hunch it will sell out before that. Friday night / Redblacks game / good bands... Though maybe the Redblacks crowd will clear out before midnight and they'll let more people in. Just a hunch anyways.
  6. They're still around? I saw them play in the lot at Lemonwheel. Whoa.
  7. His current band is awesome. Have a great time
  8. He's also playing next April 30 at the NAC in Ottawa with Basia Bulat and the NAC Orchestra.
  9. It was a lazy sentence by the writer no doubt.
  10. And as a bonus it looks like the city is serious about revisiting the bylaw as the section FolkFest was charged under is ambiguous.
  11. 73 complaints over 5 nights; 50,000 attendance at the music festival. Multiple other events and festivals happening all over the city. Maybe some additional complaints about those. Still they are negligible.
  12. Perhaps if people stop bringing up the false "ottawa is a sleepy govt town" stereotype people will stop buying in to the false "ottawa is a sleepy govt town" stereotype.
  13. Last time I saw moe. in Montreal it was at the upstairs place and it was an early curfew. I know that because I walked in between the show and encore, thinking I had great timing, only to see a 2 song "set" and then bouncers escorted everyone out while other staff swept up.
  14. There's a cheap CD Warehouse clearing out everything for bargain basement prices right here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12FOOcKJS4RscZuuhmgThbZ_Jn7FLmMe9nU4cVcaVQp4/edit?usp=sharing

  16. Heyo, I'm in need of a ticket for Friday at FolkFest. If you're selling a ticket or willing to rent / lend your pass please let me know.
  17. He's likely talking about work permits, visas for band and crew, stuff like that. Maybe that it's possible but still very expensive or time-consuming. I dunno. Anyways I though it was interesting to read about the guy's connection to the area.
  18. From the Star today. "Riot Fest co-founder Mike “Riot Mike” Petryshyn definitely seems committed to moving into this market. A native of Buffalo, he fell hopelessly in love with punk rock at an early age through mix tapes given to him by cool cousins from Brantford, would routinely “shoot up to Toronto” for shows and now considers Ontario a “second home” largely because of the musical influence it has exerted upon him. He name-checks Toronto punk pioneers the Viletones and the Diodes and Hamilton’s Teenage Head as formative favourites, and stresses that he doesn’t want the local Riot Fest to be seen as a callous branch-plant operation. “It’s really expensive and a huge risk on our end,” he says. “We wanted to show our appreciation this year for a lot of the Toronto bands and Canadian bands, like City and Colour and Metric and Tokyo Police Club and Pup and stuff like that. Billy Talent should be huge. They’re a great band, you know, and it’s really hard to cross the border for a lot of Canadian acts. And if we can help bridge that a little bit — if people in Chicago or Denver are looking at what we’re doing in Toronto and seeing, like, City and Colour, who are huge in Toronto, right next to The Cure and going ‘What?’ — so be it. Same with Billy Talent and Metric.”"
  19. Ill Communication Adam Saikaley Mike Essoudry on drums Marc Decho on bass "On ‘Alright Hear This’ I’m scratching on a turntable (something I haven’t done since high school!). Marc’s playing the violin solo on ‘Eugene’s Lament’ on a double bass. It’s going to be a combination of sticking strictly to the album and interpreting the album. A lot of people don’t know this, but it’s not all instrumental. Craig Proulx from Pregnancy Scares is singing Tough Guy, Sabatoge, and Heart Attack Man. Patric Egan from Fire Coast Acid Club is doing a handful of the hip hop tunes, so there’s going to be a nice mix of everything on the album. Some songs will be played note for note, and some songs like ‘Do It’ are going to be played around with." http://apt613.ca/arbor-acts-eatm-branching-into-adam-saikaley/

    Bluesfest 2014

Steve Perry has been performing with Eels lately. Bet you didn't see that coming. And Deltron is excellent. Though I didn't see this Bluesfest show.
  21. The list of artists seem to get recycled year to year. Very quickly losing interest in this prize.
