  1. Thanks for organizing this bouche! I was totally entertained all night! I love how the band was able to make everyone look good! Been watching the videos, which almost became the lost videos because we misplaced the memory card last night (the beer we were drinking was high alcohol!) and it took us a few hours to find it. We need to get those guys back! I know a few people who would have loved to be there but were out of town this weekend. And I know one person who'll try harder to get on stage next time! The Elmdale was a great venue for this. Did the band finally find a cheap hotel room somewhere?
  2. Oh my. This sounds soooo nice. When I travel, I very much look forward to the flying part of the trip; I'd never want this flight to end. Sounds so nice! I keep meaning to watch Rum Diaries. Nice bonus for you to get to watch it in the air with all the comforts surrounding you.
  3. Oh. So sad. Listening to the Boys all night tonight. The Beastie Boys, New York City, 1986 © LYNN GOLDSMITH, 1986

  5. The Festival d'été de Québec is a festival that seems to be getting bigger and better; it takes place at the same time as Bluesfest, July 5th to 15th. I was just checking out their programming and they have some acts who should really play Bluesfest and would make it better, such as Patrick Watson, Grimskunk, The Offspring, The Barr Brothers (I know they are playing the Ottawa Jazz Festival), Sarah McLachlan, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi. Those bands would do well at Bluesfest huh? Go Sens Go.
  6. Cool to read that you'll be at Maiden in Montreal! Did you get GA tickets? That's where we'll be. Too bad Further isn't playing Bluesfest this year. They are nearby at that time.
  7. Osheaga's first year was the best lineup in my opinion; haven't gone since due to poor lineup (again, my opinion). I noticed that quite a few bands playing at Osheaga this year are playing Bluesfest too. Metric anyone? Barf. Anyway, gotta give some thought to getting a Bluesfest pass this year. Usually, I buy right away. And yep, it totally sucks that we can't sell or give away single tickets if we can't go. That is a huge negative. I made a few people happy last year by giving away some tickets. I imagine the attendance will be lower due to that; not everyone can afford to pay $45+ for a one day pass. When people sold their single tickets, they'd sell them often for $20 or so.
  8. Tangerine Dream...the druggies at my high school loved those guys.
  9. That bracelet will be transferable...could someone just steal it...what if I get rolled for my bracelet? I suppose it can probably be inactivated if lost or stolen right? I miss tickets already. If I was not able to go one day, I'd give my ticket away. Giving the bracelet not so easy...gotta plan how to get it back etc. Urgh.
  10. Skrillex and Mastodon on at the same time on the 14th. Grrr.
  11. OK nice new thread. So as mentioned in the rumour thread, hooray to Maiden and Cooper on the 7th. Ollie just told me about Fishbone and Melvins...however, they are on at pretty much the same time on the 4th. WHAT? WHY??
  12. I read that Maiden will be on Saturday July 7th...that will be a freaking super packed night! I'm seeing them again in Montreal on the 11th...glad I decided to grab tickets for that.
  13. Alice Cooper and Maiden confirmed. That's all I am really excited about right now. There was a guy at the Sens game last night with a Maiden shirt sitting near us; he drank and ate alot! This year's theme is Electrofied with the Hard Rock tent renamed to Electro stage. Yeah, we need that fresh thread now for Bluesfest.
  14. It's a lot more on amazon.com! http://www.amazon.com/Grateful-Dead-Combine-Collection-14-DVD/dp/B00772M2Y6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333073230&sr=8-1

    JunoFest

I just read conflicting info on the juno website...so, can we indeed buy individual tickets to shows in advance and do those guarantee getting in? I read somewhere else that only wristbands are available at the stores mentioned below and tickets available at venues only. From Juno website: Purchase Details: JUNOfest wristbands offer priority access to all JUNOfest venues over 2 nights (subject to capacity). Wristbands are $30 each, and are on sale now through all Ticketmaster outlets or online at www.ticketmaster.ca. Individual tickets will be available at the door of each venue. Tickets also available at Ottawa Folklore (1111 Bank Street), The Record Shaap (209 Gilmour St) and Vertigo Records (193 Rideau Street).

    JunoFest

I'd like to go see F**cked Up at Babylon at 11pm and then Anvil at the Cabin at 1am Friday night. From what I understand though, can't buy tickets in advance, only wristbands which give access to all shows all weekend for $30. There are tickets at the door for shows, but wristbands get priority access. And having a wristband is not a guarantee to get in either, so yeah, that's the reason I might not go to any shows at all. Ah...
  18. I only want to see Cannibal Corpse and Suicidal Tendancies in this line-up. Ah... http://lineup.heavymtl.com/
  19. It no longer is, but when I checked the weather for Ottawa an hour ago, Ottawa was smoking. Nice.

  23. Juno Pianos in the Capital Celebrating the Juno Awards Project description: Inspired by the “Play Me, I’M Yours†international phenomenon where pianos pop-up in bus shelters, post offices and markets with a sign inviting passersby’s to sit down and play, Canada’s Capital provides the perfect staging for the JUNO Pianos to transform indoor public spaces around Ottawa into relaxed and fun music hangouts. From March 28th to April 1st, 2012 the public will be invited to tickle the ivories and their fancy on the JUNO pianos around town. QR Codes posted on signs by each piano will allow the public to quickly locate the pianos throughout the City and also allow easy upload of photos and videos associated with performances and visitors at each site. Juno Award nominees and local musicians will be encouraged to visit and perform at the different piano locations during the week. Project Partners ‘JUNO Pianos in the Capital’ is looking for local institutions and businesses to partner on this project and become ‘Location Sponsors’ for this project. Location Sponsors are a pivotal part in the success of this project. All sponsorship for this project is based on in-kind services. Ideally, partners will be able to support the project by providing a location and a piano; however, the project leads may be able to connect those who are wishing to provide a safe, accessible location and those wishing to provide a piano together to create a new location for the project. Location Only: Provide a physical location accessible to the public where the piano will be available for public use, and signage visible. The location would ideally be accessible by the public during the project’s official dates and times (From March 28th to April 1st). Locations would also be required to assume the safekeeping and security of the piano. The Juno Pianos in the Capital Project will supply a volunteer during official project dates and provide information to the public, but outside those hours the responsibility of the piano and signage would be on the location sponsor. If space permits, the location will also supply several chairs to serve as a waiting area for musicians and for an audience viewing area. Ideally, the location of the piano will have good wireless reception or free Wi-Fi, so users can access the information available through the QR code programming. Piano: Piano sponsors provide the piano for the use of the project. They ensure the delivery, pick-up and tuning of the piano. The piano must be available on-location during the official dates of the project (March 28th to April 1st, 2012). Signage provided at each location will include (but may not be limited to): • One large poster board with JUNO Pianos In the Capital description, project partner logos (including location and piano partners), QR code, map of other pianos locations and piano use etiquette Location, piano and signage sponsors will be recognized on the signage at the site as well as on the webpage detailing the specific pianos location. The Juno Pianos in the Capital Project will arrange volunteers for the piano locations: One volunteer will be at each site during official project times. Volunteers will responsible for providing information to visitors on the specific piano location and the JUNO Pianos in the Capital Project. Volunteers will also inform visitors of the piano etiquette and of the desired activity at the site, of the QR Code usage and photo and video uploading capabilities. Please note that volunteers are not responsible for the condition of the piano during off hours; that is the responsibility of the location sponsor. We look forward to you joining the list of participants! If interested or for more information, please contact Louise Michaud lmichaud5809@rogers.com or 613-580-2424 ext 27221
