  1. Saturday was the epitome of a perfect summer festival day: weather, food, bands, friends, crowd, and vibes were all an 11. It was so great to see so many of your faces again! Here are a few pictures: http://imgur.com/a/VI69S p.s. Super special thanks to Anne and Will for driving the truck and our drunk asses home.
  2. Blurry > Lindy > Barrs See ya there!
  3. That was one hell of a show, the weather was perfect and this tour started without me ruining tungsten's favorite Stereolab shirt. We did this show through to the end of tour and saw some really great music and experienced awesome weather the whole way (except for the Columbus death cloud on 7.14). Favorite memories include: -waking up at my parents house in St. Catharines to see my mom sitting on the deck cutting our giant box of sticker rolls into individuals -Racoon Ridge State Park afternoon hike the day after the show on some great boomers -hearing P+Friends and Dylan from outside Deer Creek with a mountain of goo balls, free stickers and Blow Pops. We were quite popular that day -Moby Dick! -picking the night of the Columbus death cloud as our first night in a hotel all tour, worth every penny (at 1.52 exchange!) -DwD -> WMGGW on the last night of the tour I'd love to hear about your memories! Was it your first show? Did you bring others for their first time? Toronto, Ontario , Canada Soundcheck: Dog Log, I Wish I Was In Guelph, Jam SET 1: Reba , Dogs Stole Things > Taste, Dog Faced Boy, Heavy Things > The Moma Dance ,First Tube, I Didn't Know, The Inlaw Josie Wales, Prince Caspian > Golgi Apparatus, You Enjoy Myself SET 2: Limb By Limb[1] > Also Sprach Zarathustra > Bug > Piper > Driver, Harry Hood[2] > Loving Cup ENCORE: The Squirming Coil [1] Unfinished. [2] Small vocal jam during the intro. For his vacuum solo in I Didn’t Know, Trey introduced Fish as “Mr. Ralph Blowenstein.” Limb By Limb was unfinished. Trey made several comments during the show regarding his affinity for the venue. Hood included a small vocal jam during the intro.
  4. Please report back on the quality of The Magpie Salute set. I want to see them but nothing is working out thus far.
  5. If you find anywhere to download the Pasadena shows I'd be grateful. Thanks Mt99!
  6. Nice! I'm anxiously waiting to see if TURF is going to happen on the same weekend as this but its getting pretty late in the year.
  7. I saw Magnolia Electric Co. (Jason Molina) there. I am so glad I ventured out alone that evening. RIP JM.
  8. https://www.masseyhall.com/tickets/current/2017/august/jason-isbell/ On sale Friday May 5 at 11am. If anyone has a Friends and Family membership and aren't interested in this show, I would like to appeal to any sense of generosity you may be feeling and buy me tickets. I can pay back right away. Get on this, it will likely sell out. And the new album kicks ass!

  10. He was there as a part of the Nels Cline Singers and Daniel Lanois in 2015. We made a stupid decision that 2017 would be the year to no longer vend at Hillside. Some of this looks great!
  11. I missed the first couple of songs while we waited to get onto the floor but other than that it was pretty fantastic. I could see that band absolutely flooring any festival crowd as long as it was after dark. I can't imagine the amount of time and creativity that goes into creating sonic masterpieces like that, never mind whatever jedi mind tricks the person who created the visuals must be pulling. Rattlesnake is now my favorite song with the fewest lyrics in the history of rock. Sorry Phish, you've been David Bowie'd.
  12. Live stream tonight from NYC: http://pitchfork.com/news/72564-announcing-pitchfork-live-with-king-gizzard-the-lizard-wizard/?mbid=social_twitter

  15. This is from the Lefsetz letter from the Newport Folk Festival: From: Jay Sweet (Newport Folk Festival)Subject: Fwd: Eric Church's Manager Explains How He Cancelled 25,000 Tickets Held by ScalpersYah, I saw this article as well.We actually did far cooler stuff:1. We used a technology algorithm approach plus the expertise of our fraud team instead of only a manual approach affording us accuracy, scale and speed. Basically repurposing our fraud fighting decision service technology against people who violated the ticket rules.2. Our partner technology allows us to stop scalper orders during the purchase flow and directly post purchase before tickets sold out getting those tickets back in the hands of fans more swiftly and also avoiding the problem of them ever making it to secondary markets and hopefully avoiding the scalper markup problem noted at the end of the article.3. We did a deeper scrape of their data (again using our algorithms plus a manual review from our fraud experts) to cancel additional orders post purchase and after sell out. We look at far more sophisticated indicators beyond just billing address, email, etc than what Eric's crew is doing.4. That note about not finding all the really bad actors is true. Scalpers tend to cover their tracks really really well and our algorithms are most likely far more effective than human eyes.5. We hold back release the barcodes for months while we then scrub and re-scrub the tickets for any more red flags. We then pull those back and offer them on our safe re-sale platform, Lyte.6. People can get into a cue on Lyte, where we set the re-sale price limit at face value. In other words we've taken the stub hub resale market for Newport Folk tickets down by 75% from last year, and made sure our fans don't get gouged. Our partner, Eventbrite did pitch the story to Billboard way back after the on sale, but they didn't bite back then. Funny how having a big name artist can really get someone to wake up and smell the story...
  16. I'm going to hit a couple but they will be last minute decisions. It sure will be odd walking into PHMSG in shorts instead of kicking slush off of our feet!
  17. I'd bank on more Canadian talent than usual given the 150th anniversary of Confederation. Or at least I'd like to see that happen.
