  1. Actually, I don't know...

    CITYFolk is September 14-18.

    Dolly's announced dates:

    Sept. 13 Moose Jaw

    Sept. 16 Calgary

    Sept. 17 Edmonton

    Sept. 19 Vancouver

Seems unlikely that she'll come back across the country between those dates, right?

  2. And the answer is....$399.

  3. I saw a mailout that says Bob will be playing a 45 minute to one hour set "with accompanying musicians" so there ya go.

$200 is too much for me.  That said I am quite happily surprised that Bobby has decided to cross the border again after his Ottawa Bluesfest fiasco.  Hope to see him (w/ Mayer or Phil?) in Canada again some time, at a reasonable price.

  4. Weird: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/steven-page-ottawa-train-station-1.3488744

If you're catching a train Sunday morning at Ottawa's Via Rail station, you might just run into a Canadian music icon before you board.

"They're running me out of town at that point!" veteran singer-songwriter Steven Page joked to In Town and Out host Giacomo Panico earlier today.

Actually, the former Barenaked Ladies frontman is touring his most recent solo album, Heal Thyself Pt 1: Instinct.

It's a record filled with the catchy hooks and soul-searching lyrics Page has come to be known for.

"My thing kind of has always been to write bright-sounding pop songs with darker lyrics," Page said on Saturday.

"It's always interesting to see how people respond to it."

Page will be playing at the train station at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, with another performance the next day at Kingston's Via Rail station.

Listen to his wide-ranging In Town And Out interview, which touches upon his relationship with his former bandmates, his mental-health challenges and a few other pressing topics.

Too bad.  His "thing" used to be playing arenas across North America with a great band.

I rather enjoyed his set at Rothbury back in 2009 I believe it was. Artpark would be a great venue but wondering if it will be the outdoor venue or amphitheater?  If the latter could be horrible especially if on the grass

Aren't most people at a Dylan show on "the grass"?

  6. The Opéra de Montréal is turning Pink Floyd's The Wall into an opera for its 2016-2017 season to mark the city's 375th anniversary.

Roger Waters, a founding member of Pink Floyd, joined Opéra de Montréal representatives to announce its new season and comment on The Wall being turned into an opera during a news conference Thursday.

Waters told a news conference in Montreal that at first he wasn't interested in participating in the opera's season.

"I think my reply was somewhat dismissive," Waters said of the first time he was approached for the project.

"It had been my experience that experiments in collaboration between the worlds of rock and roll and the worlds of symphonic music were generally disastrous and should be embarked upon with extreme trepidation. But they were extremely persuasive," he added.

"[They] played me some midi of what they had been working on and I confess, I sat there not expecting to be moved, and I was moved. Very moved. So I approach this project with great enthusiasm."

At the news conference, Waters wass asked to comment on whether returning to Montreal was difficulty after the infamous spitting incident in 1977, where he spit on a fan trying to storm the Olympic Stadium stage.

"The Wall is about the journey from the enmity of spitting in someone's face to the position where love becomes more important than that enmity," Waters said.

Organizers say The Wall album was partly inspired by Pink Floyd's 1977 performance at Montreal's Olympic Stadium.

"It was in our beautiful city, 40 years ago, that Mr. Waters' The Wall project first started to germinate," said in a statement Gilbert Rozon, founder of the Just for Laughs festival and commissioner for the city's 375th anniversary celebrations.

The Wall was released by Pink Floyd in 1979.

The last time Roger Waters toured with The Wall Live between 2010-2013 it made almost $460 million USD.
