  1. I found a dozen people in my kitchen at 6:30 AM. The only respectable response was to break out the Jamesons, and make a batch of Creme de Menthe pancakes.

I'm having a hard time keeping the monitor in focus this morning - but fvck do I have a wide-ass grin on my face...

  2. Bacon is a vegetable isn't it?

Sponge's argument is that Jesus was a really tuned in dude (I'm paraphrasing here...) who loved, lived and gave fully in every aspect of his life. While any truly enlightened person (buddha, mother theresa, insert saintly soul here) can provide us with inspiration to do the same, his personal example is Jesus Christ - hence he still is a CHRISTian...

  3. There's a United Church bishop named John Sponge (no joke about the name), who wrote a book called "Why Christianity Must Change Or Die".

This is a mind-blowing book. He writes about how it is common conversation amongst theological academics that the Christ story is just a myth. There is much more in the book, but I found this aspect funny given Mr. Fancy Pants Cardinal's claims about the Christ story being undisputable!

He was the first bishop to ordain a gay minister, doesn't believe in God and still considers himself a strong Christian. Really cool dude and a phenomenal book if anyone is into this stuff...

  4. Dude,

Get in touch with me. I'll lend you a set (we're about the same size) for the rest of the season.

Make sure you really dig this sport before springing for the clothing. If you're going to do it frequently, its worth spending a bit of money on the clothes that are: comfortable to move in, keep you dry, keep you warm and don't fvcking fall apart.

There are many ways to achieve all the above at various costs. Spend some time learning all your options. Its all trade offs.

  5. You can find good used gear through the MEC used gear exchange. This is their clothing link - they do have an equipment link too...

Of you can check things out at the barking bear forum

There are a few other good ones I can link you up to, but these are the better ones that I've used.

What I've done in the past is found things that sound about right, then look up their manufacturer's web site to make sure its what I want. You could even then go to a store to see if it really fits etc. If they work, buy'em.

Heads up on internet buying - make sure that you're buying from somone in Canada or that you're ok with the shipping details... I've exchanged music over the border and it can be a pain - I'm not sure I'd enter any deals for heavy sporting gear that involved a border.

If you have specific questions about certain pieces of gear feel free to pm me questions.

  6. You should look into some of the old Blue Note records compilations - Blue Break Beats, Best of Acid Jazz etc. - to fill in some blanks between the breaks/acid jazz/jazz genres.

One other that will fit into that area as well, is Jimmy McGriff.

For a good intro to rare-groove, try these web-radios to get the juices flowing and learn a bit about them:

  7. Monsignor Booche,

All tapes appreciated. I've got a few dead tapes too from the collection, but the more the better.

Paisley - lookin' forward to seeing you at the Pisces party (assuming from your posts you're going). I suspect its going to get silly. Kayte is going to be in Hamilton later this week - give her a buzz and let her know the deal for Friday...

Five hours in a confined space with Del and a portable pharmacy - what could go wrong.

  8. I'm going to try to get in touch with Scott asap. I'd like to hear from the horses mouth before I distribute their material.

I'd be game for a showing in the meantime if someone's got a good system for it.
