  1. Well, I think I'm pretty safe with my choice, but maybe I'll run it by you just in case. I'm thinking of changing us to: Whistler's Helpful Advocates & Mediators "W.H.A.M. Law Corp."
  2. Hart: Thank you for bringing this album to my attention. [color:blue]TO DO LIST 1. Change name of firm.
  3. Okay, this is getting ridiculous. I was just at lunch. I was typing a text on my Blackberry, while I walked across a road. Suddenly, someone started honking at me like crazy, yelling "Hey! Hey!" Thinking I should get off the road, I started walking faster (still texting - because I'm a moron). "Hey! Hey! HEY!!!!" I looked up just in time to see that I was about 8 feet away from walking right into a bear. (I changed course.) Geez!
  4. Photo taken by my friend this morning, about a two-minute walk from my office:
  5. I'm amazed by what some people consider an overwhelming problem.
  6. phishtaper: If you want to come vacation, you know how to reach me Evil Goodluck: The Whistler bears are really used to people and vice versa (to a degree, and not to say that's a good thing). At certain points of the year, last time I lived here, I used to see bears daily. It's amazing what you get used to. Now, that said, these are black bears. If I ever saw a grizzly, I think my heart would be racing.
  7. I live in Squamish, but my office is in Whistler. I park my car at the Whistler Day Lots, and just skateboard from my car to the office and back, which is in the Upper Village.
  8. I just skateboarded right past a bear on my way to my office. I'm normally not too concerned by bears, but something about being on a moving skateboard, and that close to the bear, really got my attention.
  9. Just playin' Devil's Advocate here...
  10. Day Job? Samba In the Rain; perhaps? The kid may just have good taste.
  11. He's probably a Grateful Dead fan. Many different types of people are.
  12. Nice writing Velvet. Pure and utter literary brilliance I say!
  13. I think it is also in response to the pending Digitial Millennium Copyright Act, actually.
  14. Well, obviously I haven't seen the letter, but Rogers is probably the ISP and they were probably warned by the copyright owner or its agent that they are facilitating the infringement through their server, etc, so now they are on notice to put an end to it or risk being a party to it.
  15. One defence to a Copyright Claim is that the person did it by mistake or by accident. If you put that person on notice, though, then it is clear that any infringement that happens after that was done with the knowledge that the sharing of the work was an infringement, so if it goes to Court the Plaintiff need only prove that the letter was sent and received to be able to deal with that part of the action.
  16. Are they not "covering their butts" by having "warned them" so as to negate the potential for an innocent infringer defence? I think you just said the same thing I did in your first sentence (fragment). I won't comment on the rest of what you said, other than that I disagree.
  17. I think the warning is to negate the potential for an "innocent infringer" defence to come from the alleged infringer, actually.
  18. I hope to see you and Phorbesie here. What better excuse and how much more notice do you need? (It'll also be my birthday.)
  19. So, who's going to come out, visit me, and rock out with DEVO? Link [color:brown]Whip it good.
  20. I had no idea he was still performing anywhere. Great news (although I can't be there).
  21. DRM technology (Digital Rights Management) can sometimes send reports back to the copyright owner.
  22. My favourite part is that both the dog and the human were treated by a veterinarian for injuries.
  23. I guess I'm late on this. Sorry, I've been busy. Happy birthday!
