  1. OMG that looks sooooooo good. Phorbsie, we buy ours at LaPointe in the market, but even they will tell you that you should only buy sashimi two days out of the week, when they get their shipments and it's the freshest. I can't recall what the days are, but they'll tell you if you ask. Mike made me an enormous sashimi platter for my birthday and everything was from Lapointe. There's no way could we have afforded to buy that in a restaraunt. There was so much I couldn't finish it and every bite was delicious!
  2. Hearing men talk about babies is sexy. There's nothing like a good daddy. Do I need therapy?
  3. It's hard to remember really, but I do recall my first favorite album was "Theres A Hippo In My Tub" by Anne Marray. I can recall singing "Top of the World" by the Carpenters at an extremely young age as well as "Brown Eyed Girl" but I grew up in a country house so all my earliest memories were of Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Conway Twitty and the like.
  4. What a great thread. We've all had such different experiences. My first ever concert was with my parents in the very early 80's. It was Dolly Parton and I have loved her ever since. The first concert I ever attended by choice was New Kids on the Block at Canada's Wonderland Theater (Kingswood?)

  6. Don't you just wish you could try them all out? Come on lotto numbers!
  7. Harry Manx & Kevin Breit Brian Wilson The Weakerthans Plants and Animals SWEET!
  8. Paula Deen is gross. Mike and I watched a bit of her show yesterday and she is just disgusting. Her food and her personality. Yucks all around.

    KD

Oh man I could not agree more. I might only have KD once a year, but I make it grey with pepper. Mmmm.
  10. I'm in Vermont. Havinbeers. Sunny AND I got asked for ID. It's a great day.
  11. Ah fack now I'm all confused. Pete? Eric? I think you're both awesome individuals and I like being around you. Happy day whether it's special to you or not.
  12. Lisa, I LOVE you!!!! May your birthday be filled with: and and
  13. Of all the things in the article, that's what I was left with as well. Hmmph. Thanks for posting that. I got some melody for you Kevin. I need a Sisters fix!
  14. I smoked for 12 years and have been smoke free for about 6 years. There are two things that I attribute to helping me quit smoking. First, I bought a gym membership the week I stopped smoking and I hit the treadmill. That week, I got dizzy after 2 minutes of light running. The next week without smoking, I did a slow, 4 minute run. As the weeks went by my lung capasity grew and grew. It was PHYSICAL EVIDENCE that I was doing the right thing and that smoking was killing me. Now, I run almost every day hitting speeds up to 10 miles an hour and sweating bullets. There's no damn way I could acheive that if I smoked. Second, I brainwashed myself. My mantra became "smoking is discusting". I then aligned everything to that mantra. - Smoke smells disgusting -Look at that woman smoking in her car first thing in the morning. That's disgusting. - I can't believe how many breaks he's taking. That's so disgusting. - Can you believe smokes are $7 a pack? That's down right disgusting. - and on and on and on. It really wasn't long before I truly believed how disgusting they were and I just couldn't imagine ever having another. I wish anyone who's trying to quit the very best of luck. It's a great, empowering decision and a huge accomplishment.
  15. I used to make it everyday when bouche got up before me. I'd lie in bed and stretch out all the sheets and blankets and slide out the side. The bed was pretty much made when I got out. I just straightened it and arranged the throw pillows. But now I get up before him and I just never head back to make the bed. There really is nothing better than climbing into a made up bed with freshly laundered bedding. Soooooo nice.
  16. Thanks Blane. Great website as well.

    coffee!

I totally agree. Have yourself a cup of Timmy's, a cup of homemade Maxwell House (or Folgers or whatever) and an organic coffee, all lined up. The difference is SO obvious even if you add cream and sugar.

    coffee!

I hate Tim's coffee, but I guess as far as those "fast food" type coffee shops it beats out Coffee Time and others. Since Ollie turned bouche and I onto Ideal Coffee on Dalhousie, everything else seems like crap. This coffee is the best I've ever tasted. They roast the beans on premises in small batches. The aroma of the little shop is just out of this world. I'm forever spoiled.
  19. Dito. I really, really struggled with this decision. I can't believe I'm passing up a chance to see Ryan in my own town (if you can call Kanata part of Ottawa, it's almost faster to drive to Montreal, it's certainly more enjoyable). For the record, I like Oasis' music as well. I just vowed never to see another show at that venue. I've walked away so disappointed each and every time I go and wish I had my money back. Sorry Ryan.

    whopper

So sorry Dave. I'm sure I've posted it on here before so I wasn't in a hurry to do it all over again. Serves 2. 1 cup soy milk 1/2 cup pomegranate juice 1/2 cup raspberries 1/2 cup blue berries 1 banana (for all three of the above I use frozen) 2 Tbsn Goji Berries 3 Tbsn wheat Bran 1/2 Tspn cinnimin 1 Tbsn lecithin granules (optional I guess) 1 Tbsn Flax seed oil
  21. Mine died as well and I just could not bring myself to pay full price for something that we already bought. I replaced mine with a refurbished version from apple and purchased the apple care warranty. It came to cheaper than a new one, is the exact same as my old one but has more protection with the warranty.

    Potatoes!

I was watching a cooking show yesterday (Anna Olson I think) and she added creme fresh to her mashed potatoes. She added ALOT. I'll have to try that sometime.
