  1. Dear Lord, I love Falafel. Here's my favourite recipe:

    -------------

    Falafel

    3 cloves garlic

    1/2 cup minced parsley

    1 1/2 cup cooked chickpeas

    1 tbl lemon juice

    1 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp. each basil, corriander, thyme

    1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce

    black pepper to taste

2 slices French bread, torn, and soaked in water

    1/2 cup whole wheat flour

    1 tbl extra-virgin olive oil

    4 pita bread rounds

lettuce, sliced, cucumbers, and tomato for garnish

Blend garlic and parsley in a food processor until finely minced. Add chickpeas, and process until pasty. Add lemon, cumin, basil, corriander, thyme, hot pepper sauce, and black pepper. Squeeze water out of the bread and add. Process until well mixed. Form mixture into 16 balls. Flatten each ball into 1/2 inch thick patties. Place patties on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 F for 10 minutes. Turn patties, bake another 10 minutes. In a large skillet, heat half of the oil over medium-high heat. Add patties, fry until golden brown. Turn patties over, add remaining oil. Fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

I've never used the bread technique, and I know that this recipe will work without it. Fresh falafels are about a billion times better than the boxed mixes, IMO (like listening to a grainy, third generation tape of a show vs. being there in person).

    Enjoy!

  2. Kanata Poofters suck....

So they won, enjoy it. The poofters will choke as always when it counts.

alfagsson needs a stick in eye....

    LEAFS RULE!!

Ohhhhh....SNAP. I feel like I just got served. Nothing like a lesson in choking from a guy whose team hasn't won a Stanley Cup in the past THIRTY EIGHT YEARS.

(And please, none of that "Ottawa hasn't won since 1917" crap. Tough to win 'em when you're not in the league).

  3. I love how Bryan Murray has already been tweaking the lines. Personally, I thought it a little strange to have Alfie playing RW on a checking line. I didn't realize how much I missed hockey until it came back.

  4. In high school, when I was heavier and wore glasses, I was told with relative frequency I was a younger version of this guy....

At the time I wasn't quite sure how to take it. I think that now, I would celebrate it.

  5. Why should YOU pay for a crime that somebody else found out about?

I also loved when Bob Loblaw said it wasn't the first time he was brought in to replace Barry Zuckercorn (sp?) - refrencing the Chachi replacing Fonzie years of Happy Days.

We should throw a party for Buster's stupid thing.

  6. I watch a bit of TV to pass the time - standard Simpsons, Seinfeld and OLN fare. I find it funny though, when certain people (and I'm not referencing anyone who has posted on this thread, as I don't know any of you well enough to comment) boast about "Oh man, I NEVER watch TV", as if they're some wicked counter-cultural intellectual, but then spend hours at a time watching movies/downloaded videos of farting monkeys/midget porn and stuff like that on PC. A good call on the "TV for people who think they're too smart for TV."

I also know a lot of people who claim to "not" watch TV, but still work in a couple of hours a day.

    Meh. End rant.

  7. Personally, I'd take a class before going to a video. My girlfriend (at the time) had me going for a bit last year (I was the only guy in a class comprised mainly of middle aged women - that took some getting used to and serious swallowing of the pride). Anyway, I found it pretty intense and rewarding, BUT, technique is everything. If you don't use the proper muscles, it doesn't work at all and you can mess up your body. I would go with a class first and then a video/on your own once you've been shown the basics.

  8. Go with the 20GB. It's what I have, and I've been super happy with it. I think you'll find 4GB fills up way too fast, and shuffling your music on and off (as previously mentioned) is a pain. When I first got mine, I thought "There's no way I'll be filling this baby up", but you'll be (pleasantly) surprised.
