Hartamophone got a reaction from Davey Boy 2.0 in A three-day cover band festival is coming to Ottawa
Also there’s a Paul McCartney tribute act this year, which mystifies me. Will he play only post-Beatles material? Will he play Beatles material but with a non-Beatles themed backing band? Did they only have the budget for 1/4 of a Beatles tribute? All actual questions that I have.
Edit: I Googled it. The guy aims to recreate a Paul McCartney show, playing solo and Wings material as well as Beatles tunes. So there’s that.

Hartamophone reacted to edger in Joe Russo's Almost Dead aka JRAD05/09/2015 Capitol Theatre, Port Chester, NY
Caught JRAD at Cleveland's Masonic Temple this past weekend. Lucky enough to be second from the rail and right in their glorious pocket. Russo just blows my mind every time and it was such a pleasure to watch him do his other-worldly thing from up close. An incredible setlist and an interesting venue. Couldn't help but wonder what kind of shit went down there in the past. Many launch-pad moments into the ether. These guys don't let up. Can't wait to see them again this summer at Peach!
Set 1:
St. Stephen
Playing in the Band
Crazy Fingers

That's the attitude! I feel the same way.... if they were playing like shit it would be easier to get a ticket.

Hartamophone got a reaction from hamilton in DMB in Montreal this Saturday (December 8th) (UPDATE - Bizarre StubHub content)
I know a few people around these parts were pleasantly surprised with Dave Matthews Band's set at Bluesfest this year. They're playing Montreal this Saturday and tickets on the secondary market are dirt cheap. Like, nine dollar floor seats kind of cheap. Lots to be found on StubHub. I think I may do a down-and-back for the occasion.

Hartamophone got a reaction from Davey Boy 2.0 in Dig out those old tie-dyes!
Reminiscent of the threee-day cover band festival at the Bluesfest site at the end of the summer. Did anyone hear how that went?

Also JRAD would be perfect for the Black Sheep stage.

Hartamophone got a reaction from bouche in Ottawa Bluesfest 2018 Official Thread
I haven't been an active fan since probably 2004, and haven't seen them at all since 2008. Their sound has evolved quite a bit in that time. When Tim Reynolds first came on as a permanent full-time member, he was just screeching over top of things quite a bit, with heavy distortion. He seems to have toned things down in the past few years, and is giving the songs a little more room to breathe. Playing off the horns seems to be working for him. In terms of the horns, no disrespect to Leroi Moore, but Jeff Coffin's jazz chops have added quite a bit to the dynamic, and taken things in a more focused direction in terms of the band's improvisation. I loved watching Reynolds, Coffin, Rashawn Ross (trumpet) and Buddy Strong (keys) bouncing the musical beach ball around over the course of the show. And Carter Beauford is the same monster he's always been behind the kit. It was a really great time, and I think I'll try to see these guys again before another ten years is up.
On another note, was anyone else at the Black Sheep Stage for Eat a Peach on Thursday night? What a fun set, with as big a crowd as I think I've ever seen at that stage.

Really enjoyed this year also! Highlights for me were the Foo, DMB, Sturgill, and just the fact that most every night there were friends to be found at the fest, like days of yore.
good job everybody!

Hartamophone got a reaction from Booche in Ottawa Bluesfest 2018 Official Thread
Yes brah! Can't wait.
Also a reminder that the ABB tribute Eat a Peach is Thursday. After their Bluesfest set they're playing a proper two-set show at the 27 Club. I'm going to give that its own thread, just in case potentially interested parties aren't opening this thread out of fear of Bryan Adams recaps and lawn chair soliloquies.

DMB was dope. The horns were super tight, and the new keyboard player (Buddy Strong) pushes things to a different level. And Carter Beauford alone was worth the price of admission. Great times.
I have a pass for tonight so I think I’m going to go for Eat a Peach and maybe some of Blue Rodeo.

Hartamophone got a reaction from bouche in Eat a Peach - Allmans Tribute (obviously) TWO SHOWS in Ottawa this Thursday, July 12th
I caught their rain-shortened set at Bluesfest last year and was duly impressed. They're back this Thursday for a Bluesfest set at 8:00, followed by a full two-set show at the 27 Club starting at 11:00. Boo ya!

I have nothing to add, but the festival starts this week and this thread belongs on the main page so deal with it.

Hartamophone got a reaction from Booche in Epic Covers
Jesus that was nice, Booche. Don’t think I’ve ever heard that one without even an attempt at the outro - it was such an abrupt end as to be almost jarring. That’s a stellar version of a big song.

Hartamophone got a reaction from bouche in Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats coming to Fredericton, Quebec City and Ottawa in September
Pretty psyched for this. They've been one of my favourite "new" bands of the past couple of years, but I was out of town when they played Cityfolk last year.
Sept. 14th - Frederiction - Harvest Jazz & Blues
Sept. 18th - Quebec City - L'Imperial
Sept. 19th - Ottawa - Bronson Centre
