  1. FYI : I am now Steven Vincent as my real last name is a mouthful and [color:purple]I feel that people generally don't trust Italians. I will be performing my first solo set and it will be about a half hour length at the beginning of the night. I will let Briguy fill you in on the set start times. I am a little nervous, but seeing some of you out early would help? That and my usual 16 beer preset regiment. I don't get through much of the tunes, but the banter! Not to be missed :-)
  2. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. The rebirth of decadence. If the Jaguar E-Type were a band, this is what it would sound like. Inspired by the sounds of late sixties reggae producer Leslie Kong (Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Desmond Dekker, The Wailers), the Baudelaires like some soul with their reggae and they're not afraid of a little “church†too. That is, if church refers to the feverish gospel-cum-ska sound that Toots Hibbert drew on for hits like “Sweet and Dandy†and “Pressure Drop†or Desmond Dekker liberally borrowed for “Israelites†and Jimmy Cliff majestically carved into “The Harder They Come.†Sweaty. Carnal. Transcendent. The Baudelaires. The Baudelaires on Myspace
  3. Y'know what screw it I'll pick one. Sans hyperbole. Steppenwolf. I pick Steppenwolf because I prefer music that I perceive to be music more gutteral, has interesting organ interludes, has a vocal that is not as pristine as some classic rock bands can espouse, more raw guitar sounds and lacks campy convention. Though the virtuosity of Cheap Trick is far superior to that of Steppenwolf and they have the market cornered on theatrics and big sound I would choose to opt for not that as that is not where my current tastes lie. My tastes did lie there at points in my life and maybe they will return but for now I pick Steppenwolf.
  4. I've listened plenty and I disagree...I don't like this stuff. You do. That's good for you. You will have a good time then.
  5. Whatever...you asked for an opinion and I say this is bonkers and dated....I'll go grab my hightops and practice my sway dancing ... seriously .... give me 3 reasons you are excited about this? Nobody said the whole festival was useless BTW not even close....I'm just saying I am not into these acts whatsoever....it happened...it doesn't need to happen again does it? I know this format is making my sentiments come off pretty harsh...and admittedly I was being sarcastic, but nowhere did I write the whole thing off. Nowhere.
  6. So sorry for your loss Basher. Be well.
  7. kind of yes...but no one has offered up the neither argument, and to me that is the answer. There has to be something else out there no? Would you go out of your way to attend that? Or are you just picking it over Steppenwolf? Sorry i am a bit of a sarcastic dick from time to time, but seriously what does this booking do to make this festival have wide appeal? Look at blues fest in your beloved city...if Cheap Trick was the pinnacle would you be proud?
  8. With regard to the Golden Slumbers post above: So my answer is a song they didn't write being performed with epic reverb....not much of an endorsement. This is not a solid booking, I'm sorry. This is to music what Velveeta is to cheese. "Yeah Velveeta works, but you feel queezy afterward." I'm done.
  9. This, to me is like asking if I want my hand smashed with a hammer or a brick. :-)
  10. Saw them at the Casbah in Hamilton a couple of weeks ago. Really enjoyed their set and loved Yukon Blonde too.
  11. So in an attempt to minimize setups I will be playing on Friday and Saturday @ the Jimmy Jazz in Guelph. Friday Nov 12 - the ragged bankers (Roots/Americana/Country rock) Singin, Acoustic Guitarin, Electric Guitarin, Keyboardin' Saturday Nov 13 - the Baudelaires (Soul/Ska/Reggae) Keyboardin' no cover ... Both shows should begin around 10:30 Cheers
  12. I was right behind the person with the "I am pretty sure God hates us all equally" sign. To my left ws a guy with a sign that read "Sarah Palin can see this rally from her house" that was my favourite one of the day.
  13. Infinitely bummed that I will be playing in Guelph that night. Nice grab Jay!
  14. I'm pretty sure the Warped 45s are opening this...definitely worth showing up early.
  15. Good luck dude. On a music front I am looking forward to Wooden Sky. Also it looks as though Finley Quaye won't be there, due to illness I believe. Crumby.
  16. We went to the studio to make a demo. Here's what came of it; hope you enjoy. www.myspace.com/theraggedbankers
  17. Why can't we just put SHAT on the end of all the aforementioned and have a great chuckle? Brian Jonestown Massacre Shat Day Glow Abortion Shat The Grateful Dead Shat Nero Shat Shat K Anal Cunt Shat (now we're cookin!) Sorry - I'm a douche in real life occasionally too. what the thunder shat?
  18. Nice read Luke. Thanks for the effort and the new music.
  19. I for one, am enjoying how lippy C-Towns is in this thread. Still looking forward to this though. I think the effort put forth to promote the show and the new adds to the bill are a step in a positive direction.
