  1. Here's my shorter review. Kimock was awesome, great to see Andy Hess playing again. Magpie Salute was easily the best black crowes cover band I have ever seen (I have never seen a black crowes cover band). I'm going to disagree with edger on this one and say they were 100% going for the classic crowes sound and did an amazing job of recreating it. Hearing Marc Ford and rich together again was awesome. If Eddie could have been there would have been perfect. Lead singer does an admirable Chris imitation. But nothing beats the original. Greensky bluegrass were cool. I found cabinet painfully boring whereas bluesky are actually interesting to listen to. My Morning Jacket rocked. Great set. Lettuce were awesome and play like motherfuckers. Really cool to see Chaka Khan. Pink talking fish seemed kinda shitty by comparison. Why the fuck do people wanna hear so much cover music? We needed 2 different dead cover bands for this fest. The tribute to Gregg and butch was good but I agree with edger that les brer were better. Just tighter group better sound. Marcus king was good and that 22 year old can shred like a motherfucker but that is it. Shred shred shred sing like Warren Haynes a bit and shred some more. Def got skills but after 20 minutes I was bored. Try playing a slow guitar solo. Kimock said more in 5 minutes of playing than that kid did in 1.5 hours. Again, he's got crazy skills but no soul. Course at 22 who the fuck has soul? Widespread were great and umphreys late night was awesome. Forgot how good they are when they play like they got something to prove. I also enjoyed the record company. Fun blues rock 3 piece. Good energy. Seeing joe bonamassa was interesting. Not as much of a shredder as you might expect and has solid tone. But his attempt to move blues somewhere more interesting usually ends up sounding kinda cheesy but I give him credit for having an engaging and varied set. All in all its a very relaxed fun atmosphere. Everyone from staff and security, to fans, were very chill and had a respectful and easy going vibe. That rain sucked and camping on the side of the mountain was a bit of a pain. But we had a fun time and i would certainly recommend it as a good festival destination. And where was this massage place? If i had known that was around would have def taken part. Just like to add the week before peach fest I caught Jimmy herring and the invisible whip. Holy shit balls was that an incredible night of music. With Jeff sipe, Matt slocum, and Jason crosby those guys played at a level I'm not sure I've seen in a long long time. Just face melting jams and fantastic songs. Musicianship does not get better than this. I highly recommend checking them out.
  2. I'm also hitting peach fest this year. Heard nothing but good things and with a solid line up, my expectations are high.
  3. Just heard - I'm very saddened by this news. To this day one of my all time greatest musical experiences is standing side stage at ABB beacon shows and getting to watch that man work. Opened my ears like no other. Reunited with Duane and Berry. Thanks for the music Butch.
  4. The Black Crowes legendary keys player passed away Nov 4th at age 59. An absolute fan favourite for the Crowes, it wasnt a real show unless we got the "Eddie! Eddie! Eddie! " chant going at some point. There is an article on Now magazines web page that details his passing but I cant link right now.... Very sad day for Crowes fans.....

    Trumped

An undereducated and misinformed public is the key to maintaining power in a "democracy". I have talked to many Trump supporters here in southwestern PA and to a person they're following a slogan and an idea that bears little weight under any critical thought or reasoning.
  6. Yay bots! Yay ticketmaster! Yay stubhub! Isn't it great!? I love big shows for in-demand artists!

    Gord Downie

Supply and demand and massive monopolistic business practices that unfairly screw individual consumers.

    Gord Downie

Just heard this morning. Terrible news. I love Gord. Hip rule.
  9. I'm not a fan of bad company but mr rich robinson of black crowes fame will be joining them on guitar for this tour. Their current/original guitarist declined the tour for health reasons.
  10. I work with a guy who was at his last show in Pittsburgh. He got a free ticket to go from a friend but wasn't much of a fan of Bob or reggae (but went anyway). He said he left the show early because of "...all the hand waving and that damn rhythm."
  11. I wonder if Damian from Fucked Up screams the lyrics to cream puff war....could be "interesting".
  12. I would love to see radiohead again, but mr. Thom cannot sing worth a damn anymore. Watched a recent ACL show of theirs and he can no longer hit any of the high notes in any of their older tunes. Paranoid Android was cringe-worthy. I'm sure still an awesome show, but it ain't the same without those pipes of his being where they used to be.
  13. I'd be more excited if Grand Theft Bus were touring again.
  14. Drumhand are awesome! West African rhythms coupled with classic and modern jazz horns. A truly original band and musical idea.
  15. Just saw the CRB and was very underwhelmed. Chris seems desperate to be considered a legit guitarist and I admit he's come very far since New Earth Mud but the guy is a singer and playing guitar reduces the quality of his vocals by half (perhaps the same half he wished to take from Rich, who wrote most if not all of the music Chris has so well profited from......having said that, half Chris vocals are better than most) But Despite Neal being very solid lead, they were pretty boring. Ok we get it you guys LOVE 70's GD. But having Moog keys solos on most songs and meandering, uninteresting, anti-climactic guitar leads makes for a fun, but generally tepid concert.
  16. I'm wondering what the water quality is really like down there at the Hangout beach, on the old Alabama coast. Those few thousands of gallons of dispersants they dumped into the gulf have really, really f-ed it up. Not that things were ok with 210 million gallons of oil to start with, but...... I recommend: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/25/corexit-bp-oil-dispersant_n_3157080.html and maybe staying out of the water.
  17. might be hittin this up. but Steep Canyon Rangers without Steve Martin......I dunno......
  18. hmmmmm. that's kinda fucked up but sadly not surprising. I really loved Rich's first solo record, Paper, but not much else since then. As for Chris, "Mr. High and Mighty standing with your back against the wall They better jump when you say jump, they better crawl when you say crawl Buildings crumble and peasants cower at the sound of your name But was it God that gave you that power or is it merely fame Mr. High and Mighty who are your sights set on now with your fair-weather fortune and your gold sacred cow You reunite with your long lost brothers on an old abandoned ship There was a time when you brought joy to others Guess you got caught up in the trip Mr High and Mighty remember when you were low On the sunny streets of Georgia but that was a long time ago Mr. High and Mighty will you ever join us again Will we dance and sing together, will we all join hands Can't you hear the voices calling or is it just time for another show Once again the great have fallen Did you really have that far to go" Gov't Mule "Mr. High and Mighty"
  19. neither. being a total fuckin loser like he is all the time.
  20. Can't wait! 6th row centre floor! How long has it been since MMW played Toronto? Or how long since MMW&S has played together at all? fuckin eh. Imperial Pub at Victoria and Dundas is always a good time pre-drink location. http://imperialpub.com/
  21. yeah its kinda on the weak side. I would agree with the words "safe" and "bland". I also happen to think Ashes and Fire was pretty weak too so it was kinda disappointing after waiting 3 years to get this.....however, in an interview with NYT from awhile back to promo this record, RA said that he recorded an entire album about his grandmother passing away but had to convince Capitol not to release it because he said it was "too depressing". This self-titled album was his replacement. I, for one, would now very much like to hear this shelved "too depressing" album.
  22. The great guitar tech Brian Farmer has sadly passed away. http://www.mule.net/home.php I didn't realize he worked for Johnny Cash prior to Warren Haynes.
  23. I was told by someone presale password is swim
  24. "Animals" cover rip off attempt.
