  1. very packed but less so by the end. I found the whole show to be a very bland let down. Just not as good songs as MMJ. Like, really dull. Played a bunch of Monsters of Folk and 1 MMJ song, Wonderful, played solo acoustic. That and the drum solo were the highlights.
  2. I'm looking forward to tonight even though I wasn't that thrilled with the solo record. on at 9pm.
  3. Up until the Ryman Show and that Atlanta one, the set lists seemed pretty boring and typical. I'm amazed by what they played at those two shows though. I did download one of the above listed earlier shows and they do sound pretty rejuvenated.
  4. I think i can guess what we might hear if they do come to Massey Hall.
  5. excellent news. they sounds pretty good, would be cool if that was the band he toured with. big shoes to fill.
  6. Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood and the Prism of Belief. by Lawrence Wright downloaded this torrent to my kobo as its still not available in Canada due to litigation concerns but an absolutely fascinating story. If you wanted to know what L. Ron and Scientology are actually like and about, check this one out. The Kingkiller Chronicles: Book 1 (Name of the Wind) and Book 2 (The Wise Man's Fear). by Patrick Rothfuss. Recommended to me by a friend when I mentioned I loved Game of Thrones. Fantasy set in olden times, a very engaging read. Not at all like Game of Thrones but similar setting.
  7. It was indeed Mr. Jack Pearson. Flown in special for the show as Warren had a death in the family. I was lucky enough to be 4th row centre. And once again, due to friends in high places I'll be side stage for 2 ABB Beacon shows in a couple of weeks. Had the honor last year and get a repeat this year.
  8. "Dangerous" Dan Toler passed away today after a long battle with ALS. http://www.spinner.ca/2013/02/26/dangerous-dan-toler-dead-allman-brothers-band/ He played on their worst records, but I always thought he was a decent guitarist. Saw him with Dickey and Great Southern years ago. He was solid, Dickey was not.
  9. Saying or mouthing fuck off to a kid is pathetic for any adult. If that is normal behavior for Pete Townhsend, I feel sorry for him. Life must suck.
  10. seriously though this guy plays bass left handed and guitar right handed? thats fuckin impressive.

    ugh

I drove to pittsburgh last Friday. I think you could have made it to Toronto no problem. go slow.
  12. ditto. But let's not over estimate the incredible taste in music that pre-teen girls have. My question is what the hell happened to Rebecca Black? You wanna talk about talent.....
  13. Thanks everybody for the recommendations! - Rev I think you sold me on the Time Jumpers - and mostly because of Paul Franklin. I'm going to try to hit the Exit/In and certainly the strip. I will probably pass on the Preds, though I would go for sure in any other situation, I only have 3 nights there (business during the day), so I'd rather spend them seeing music.
  14. I'll be traveling to Nashville for the first time at the end of the month and I'm looking for some live music venue recommendations.....I've always wanted to go and I'm very excited about seeing as much music as I can in the evenings while I'm there. Unfortunately not on any weekend, but I'm up for any type of music. suggestions? thanks.
  15. "Mr. High and Mighty" indeed.......
  16. no luther, that sucks. Not a big fan of Jackie Greene but gotta give em a chance I suppose. I wonder how many times the Crowes of now either "broken up" and or taken a "hiatus"? I actually thought the last one would be it....I'm so naive.
  17. drumhand are awesome - been a fan since the beginning. Truly unique sound. check them out.
  18. Zeus are awesome. What's a hipster? An overused designation for people in their twenties?
  19. thanks j. I was also wondering how the show was. Is it true that he tours with 2 bands, 1 all girl 1 all guy, on this tour and only informs which band is playing the day of the show?
  20. If only somebody in the programming dept at Toronto's 102.1 The Edge could discover that Radiohead actually continued to record other songs after Creep, it wouldn't have been ruined for me. Then again, the programming dept at 102.1 The Edge should be forced to listen to the 4 or 5 songs songs they play on repeat for a few days. Not that it would change anything but at least they might go insane and stop subjecting the public to Metric, Black Keys and The Sheepdogs every other song, in that order. Not that I listen to that radio station anymore, but when I did it gave credence to the reason why radio is dying a slow death.
  21. Fantastic show! Really a pleasure to hear the band after all these years, amazing sound, new stuff sounds great. Hope this wasn't a one off thing!
