  1. I was also at the Hookah Brown show and no there was never a Hooka Brown album released but apparently many, many unreleased demos exist from that band. Considering how poorly attended the last Rich solo show was, I'm doubting this one will sell out. But its also at the Elmo with has a much smaller capacity. Either case, enjoy it for all those who can attend. Being out of town on the 15th, I'm trying to swing the Oct. 17th show in Detroit instead.
  2. Rev I was also at that show and man was it ever poorly attended, maybe 20-30 people tops? But what a great set and sound with Gordy on bass. I really hope this one can be better attended. His playing merits it.
  3. Just saw this. Was really excited then realized I was going to be in Pittsburgh on Oct. 15th for a wedding. And I thought to myself, you have got to be fucking kidding me. THE BLACK CROWES ARCHITECT HITS ROAD WITH SOLO BAND Rich Robinson will be touring nationwide behind the release of his second solo album, Through A Crooked Sun (arriving October 11). The tour begins in Philadelphia, PA on October 6 and currently wraps November 19 in Phoenix, AZ. Through A Crooked Sun was produced by Robinson and includes guest appearances from Warren Haynes and Larry Campbell. The album will be released by Circle Sound/Thirty Tigers. 4. This weekend. Can't believe we've been waiting for this since February. Does anybody know the story as to how Jeff Mangum is now back and playing music? Didn't he completely disappear for years?
  5. Statesboro Blues was written by Blind Willie McTell. Stupid Reuters.
  6. I think you are confusing Gov't Mule for the Warren Haynes Band, something fairly different, that I have not seen but I have heard described as "Gov't Mule Light" or "Gov't Mule for women". I still haven't heard any of the record or seen them live but my brother has seen the Warren Haynes Band live several times and suggests they're not very much like Gov't Mule at all. Think mellow Warren Haynes crooning over R&B, soul sounding stuff with of course, his electric guitar.
  7. fantastic show. They only get better. I agree Jaimoe that Jim's voice did sound a bit tired eh? Last Kool Haus show was amazing and this one was just that much better, besides the unfortunate wear of Jim's voice. So much great fuckin music.
  8. Just spoke to Kool Haus - Doors: 7 PM MMJ: extended 3 hour set starting at 8 PM No opener. Unfuckin real.
  9. I'm shocked your having trouble getting rid of them. Are they still available?
  10. huh. I guess the "usual" channels in Attleboro just weren't cutting it. or money was tight.
  11. I wish Weezer would lose their new drummer and force Pat Wilson back behind the skins. wtf weezer.
  12. wow. awesome. thank you for the link. was wondering how these shows were going.
  13. Ah the stink of Live Nation desperation. Next, bonus offers: buy a concert ticket to one show and receive free complimentary tickets to every other show this summer at Molson Amph. Just please, please come to a show....please won't someone buy a ticket to our crappy aged rockers "attempting to cash in" tour 2011.
  14. lets hope someone posts a torrent link to this album.......
  15. yeah, sounds like MMJ but also sounds like Mr James and company are still trying new things. I was thinking about the first time I heard Evil Urges. This doesn't seem nearly as removed from earlier stuff as that did but the expanded instrumentation, like using strings, keeps them moving rather than repeating. They kick fucking ass live. I thought the last Kool Haus show was fantastic. If you want to see a kick ass rock show, go to My Morning Jacket. Amazing value for $.
  16. on another note, I was curious about tickets to Neil on the day of, so last night at about 5 PM I went to Massey Hall website and first pulled up a single row A left centre balcony seat ($204). I ditched that ticket to see what would come up next and a few minutes later got a single left centre floor row I seat 12. That's 9th row centre (just off right hand centre aisle) also $204. I'm hoping that this was due to tickets being held back because of possible camera positions. ie they figured a camera might be in that seat and when it wasn't, or wasn't needed, put the seat on sale. If it wasn't because of cameras, I'm stumped. Sold out shows at Massey Hall? I don't think so. Holding tickets back for industry insiders, scalpers, friends of Massey Hall? you bet. Although I figure this bodes well for my getting a decent single ticket to Fleet Foxes the day of.
  17. well darn. I've always managed to get decent seats at Massey right off the bat, thinking that speed is going to matter but I hear you about the freeze up. I did try at about 10:10 though and was getting the same few gallery pairs each time I tried. I figure I can still get good seats closer to the date from somebody, non-scalper. I was looking for a pair on the floor preferably but balcony is fine.
  18. At exactly 10 AM today, public onsale, the best I could get was Left Centre Gallery.....are you fuckin kidding me!? I tried several attempts on massey's website and got the same each time....gallery. Again I ask, are you fuckin kidding me?! Between friends first and the 30 seconds it took to reload the page, all of the floor and balcony were sold? I call bullshit shenanigans. Ticketmaster was no better. I fucking hate scalpers, stub hub and all the other bullshit websites that seem to magically scoop up the best seats before they go on sale. I really really hope that someday this bullshit ends, but until people stop buying from scalper websites I guess demand will dictate the market forces.
  19. thanks for the link Kev. Heard a lot of people got shut out on tickets. Guess I'll have to settle for the movie version as well.
  20. I saw Neil during the Greendale tour at Camden and during an in-between song moment while Neil furthered the story, someone heckled "fuck Grampa, Rock n' Roll!" Without missing a beat Neil shot back, "sit down, shut the fuck up or get the hell out of here." The crowd cheered Neil and it was a very surreal moment when you witness the artist take the performance back from a self-centered douche in the crowd, in such a precise and confident way. I think he can handle himself no matter the ticket price or audience.
  21. I regret phrasing it that way or suggesting that Neil was past his prime. I agree its not overpriced for Neil solo at Massey Hall. When was Neil's prime? In my opinion, most of the '70's. Feel free to Google that till your hearts content.
  22. and having thought about it, I guess if there was ever a show at Massey Hall that you would expect to be priced high and fair value, it would be solo Neil. I'm just bitter cause I don't have the scratch. I'd be there in a heart beat, or scrambling to be, otherwise. I do wonder how much of a distraction the cameras will be though.
