  1. Hey y'all. I saw this guy open a show at the Media Club while I was out in Vancouver. His name is Dan Mangan. I guess he could be placed into a folk rock category. He's got an amazing voice with beautiful tone. A very mature sound to him despite his young age, definitely worth checking out. MarcO, for some reason he made me think of you, perhaps you will like his sound. According to his myspace page his influences include: Ryan Adams, Damien Rice, The National, Doves, Death Cab for Cutie, Hayden, Wilco, Beatles, Radiohead, Van Morrison, Bright Eyes, M. Ward, Interpol, etc. Anyhow, just thought a few of you might be interested in lending some support to this emerging artist. You can check him out at: http://www.myspace.com/danmangan or www.danmanganmusic.com Cheers!
  2. Traveling Wilburys have always been a personal favourite of mine as well
  3. Oh yeah shit... stupid me, thanks for the clarification
  4. Not sure why but I've been in a bit of an Otis Redding mood as of late.
  5. Yeah, I caught this show by chance last night as well. Pretty entertaining. The "where it's at" track was kind of funny.
  6. I guess you guys don't need to worry about saving your stubbies (i mean stubs) anymore...
  7. I will say that he's looking better than I remember him ever looking... Was he as charming in real life as he portrays himself to be?
  8. I'll admit, I'm largely ignorant when it comes to knowing much about this Dion character. I do however remember an environmental debate that was broadcast on CPAC prior to the last federal election where he was the liberal representative. I was less than impressed. Granted the party sitting in power always has a harder job as they are in constant defensive mode rather than relying solely on criticizing others. I recall him looking extremely uncomfortable, lacking confidence, etc... rather unconvincing. Nonetheless his background does give me some hope. I will be watching this man carefully from this day forward.
  9. So on the JSB nights, it WTTS also playing (or only on the nights specified)?
  10. Oh, and by the way, your pants are fabulous!!
  11. That's good to know. You guys have a good thing going on. All I meant was that trying to appease everyone or even a segment of the masses can become pretty tiresome. If it feels right, it's right... and atleast somebody out there will tap into all that you radiate in turn. Plus I think you guys have already been getting plenty of feedback from this board recently. Most of which appears to be positive. That's the stuff I'd be gobbling up. Hopefully it continues to inspire you. Cheers.
  12. Happy birthday Brad. Hope your bender was fruitful... did anybody tape it?
  13. It's all genius Deeps... Don't worry so much about what other people think. You'll never please everyone...
  14. I hear you paisley, I hear you..
  15. Another brick in the wall? This is the first that I'm hearing that they broke that jam out... and of course on the one night that I actually wasn't there...
  16. It seems to me that it is Ottawa events that tend to get pinned. The PJ show will just need to be shamelessly bumped on regular occasion.
  17. Harriet, sweet hair-ee-et... she stole my heart and my cat (I know I'm missing a line or two in there...) Yeah that movie is priceless... Uck, go cry yourself to sleep on your big huge pillow
  18. Went out for a conference which finished today, so now I'm taking a couple of days of fun. Hitting up the Be Good Tanyas tomorrow for the first time. Sounds like the interview process was worth it. Cheers!

    Ecstasy is bad mmmmkay?
  20. Transmitting good luck vibes from the west... hopefully they'll make it over the rockies
  21. Yeah, I can attest to the crazy snow in Van! I flew in on the Saturday and it sounds like it was just in time. Same situation as Victoria, in that there is certainly a lack of snow clearance going on. A lot of people don't seem to know how to drive through the snow in Vancouver either, which makes for an interesting challenge when mowing about. Glad to be here nonetheless... gotta love this city!
