  1. That's still a great turnout in my mind with the crowd they had the night before. Just suuuper!
  2. Jeeeee wizzz I just love these boys
  3. That's a fresh and great looking lineup to these eyes too
  4. Ya I would love to get back to that place......hang around for a little while
  5. I was also lucky enough to get into this show. Cat Stevens has been a major staple for me since I was really young...reminds me of singing with my uncles who really the first to expose me to the collective enjoyment of acoustic music (and the fun of utter nonsense around a fire). The line-up to get in was one of the most ridiculous experiences I've ever had getting into a show. It went all the way down Shuter, Young Street, wrapped around Queen...it was so crazy it was comical. But he did wait (to my knowledge) until everyone was able to get into the building before starting the show. Rob you spoke of hooting and hollering...I was sitting directly in front of what was easiest the loudest most shrill and vocal hosebag in the whole building...also had to deal with the conflicts that inevitably arose as others tried to get her to pipe down. One man gently leaned over and told her "its time to be quiet now" (as if speaking to a child)....let's just say that did not go over well. (envious of your seats by the way!!)...I was up on the gallery far left...visibility was quite poor, and of course sound quality could have been much better from another angle but I was still happy to be in the building. Overall his tone (which is second to none) shone through, but from where I was his lower register was muddied.... All that to say he really does have some of the best songs ever written on the planet...melodically, sentiment wise...and god I love his sorrowful hopeful accepting tone. I thought he seemed to be in really great spirits. To tell you the truth I wasn't really sure what to expect...I wasn't even sure if he would play his old material given the transition in identity.... but he was really laid back and comfortable about it all...seemed to be in a really good place. Off his new album my favourite track is "Was Raised in Babylon"...that sounded great. My other highlights of the evening were Father and Son and Miles from Nowhere....love, love those songs. I thought it was a great mix of a set...if only we had got a "trouble".... (but one can't be too greedy).
  6. Couldn't agree more phorbesie. Sure joni "could" be a little warmer and sometimes i wish she was...so she would fulfill "my expectations" of her and make the world a more certain place. But the fact that she's not and is full of human shades of grey and contradiction is what makes her interesting. To me bidini's "open" letter couldn't be a louder cry for attention...Preaching to The world from the back of another
  7. Yes they had a great turn out. Going into it I was surprised they would book at a venue of that size. First time seeing them...I was low on energy but it was fun. They definitely have some chops. I had to move back due to the blinding annoying lights tho. Nice to be at a jam show full of people I'd never really even seen before. That's positive
  8. Um...I hope he feels vindicated? Oh to have that much time on your hands to distribute these little pearls from on high
  9. Off the top of my head lettuce, railroad earth, the hip doing fully completely (been a real long time since I've seen them)...plus moe at the end of Jan. Might be more I'm forgetting. All great news but this mama might just have to do some pickin and some choosin. First world problems
  10. Holy February...already a bunch of challenging trade-offs to decide on
  11. Ha what a bunch of pros! Way to cut right to the chase with the bong hits...
  12. We are an adaptive and resilient species to be sure, but guess my point was sheer volume/intensity of any weather stops us in our tracks pretty quickly and we really haven't had much experience dealing with that in these parts.
  13. It is all pretty humbling to be reminded how vulnerable we& our infrastructure is to the power of nature/extreme weather. We haven't really had much exposure to that in this part of the world. I don't think you need to be probed by aliens to have an inkling we may just be in for a whole lot more of that.
  14. Hmmm I was not aware that the Capitol/Brooklyn Bowl residencies were coming to a close at the end of this year... All pretty exciting speculation. Other than for me personally Lock'n is terrible in terms of timing. Having back to back Phish and Dead shows would be pretty amazing, but likely an absolute shit show in terms of logistics? Never did really hear if some of that got ironed out in year two this year. If that ends up being the only/main appearance it would be pretty heartbreaking not to make that happen somehow
  15. Thanks for your energy you've been putting towards the jamband scene Rary8
  16. That there is some crystal clear reporting
  17. Sure is! Guess we have a limo bus load forming to help smooth the night out
  18. Kind of bummed to read that but also not surprised. Things live in on various incarnations and I'm always happy to be a part of that when I can. It will be interesting to see what next year's festival season brings.
  19. Never knew the Dylan connection on that one!
  20. I knew I should have dug out that ole' trusty purple font
