  1. Personally I like Lamontagne's introvertedness. It's real, sincere, vulnerable. His vocals carry themself, he doesn't need to do jumping jacks to get my attention.
  2. Heard he covered Neil's Down by the River into Floyd's Time. Sweet. Any reviews?
  3. Yeah, I've been all over this album lately...and super stoked for the upcoming show. I'm hoping to hear a Sister Luck live for the first time...so many gems though one can't really go wrong. Would like to hear some newish material off of Before the Frost too (particularly Magnolia and The Last Place that Love Lives...damn what a simple, beautiful song)..great album. Knowing we're getting a full acoustic and full electric set makes me look forward all the more. Really wish I was catching more than one show this 'final'? run.
  4. We were totally planning on going, but alas the Muskoka beers on the dock were far too enticing on a beautiful sunny day.
  5. Bar gigs are so tough in the summer. Hope you get a good turnout. You guys should ramble on into Hamilton some night.
  6. I was trying to place my finger on it earlier when listening to some Mumford & Sons, (and it has probably been five years or so since I last saw Dan), but if memory serves me well I think his vocal tone sounds a lot like Marcus Mumford.
  7. My searching skills leave much to be desired, but couldn't seem to find an existing thread on this show. Anyone going to catch Ray (and David Gray) tonight at Molson Amp? REALLY wish I was going, but have a family reunion. Just picked up his newest release. Haven't even had the chance to listen to it all the way through yet, but so far, so good. Especially digging the pedal steel. And his vocals always make me melt. It can be streamed until Sept. 7th from here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=128986999
  8. Yeah, this does look like a nice collection. Need mo' money.
  9. No kidding. I'm SUPER bummed this show is sold out already. I don't even recall hearing about tickets going onsale. Just happened to stumble upon their website recently...got all excited about them coming, only to find out it's already sold out. Bigger venue needed indeed.
  10. Duly noted Blurry. I've been saving my Sunday's best apron for the show anyways. Hope we see you there! Didn't realize that the Stagger Lee's were Darcy Good's band. That's great news. Her late, late night contributions to our fire jam at Tottenham were smokin' good. What a great addition, and awesome way to start a day off at CTMF. Nice to hear that Mark (and Trish?) will be sitting in with them as well. NewRider also happy to hear an endorsement from you for Wax Mannequin. I've been curious to hear him for years and its nice that opportunity is finally presenting itself.
  11. Glad to hear you're having fun. It's been a while Mark. Guess we'll see you at CTMF?
  12. They do look interesting actually...not what I would have expected based on the name. But I should know by now that exterior shells can be damn hard to read sometimes...

Absolutely LOVE the rock. So vast, stark, timeless. Unfortunately haven't explored the west at all though, or the far north. Hopefully in due time. Thanks for sharing a little piece of paradise with us.
  15. Reckless for sure. Selfish for sure. I still have a little sympathy for him though. Sucks to be in that headspace (to put it lightly)
  16. Heard this on the radio this morning. Violent riots, SWAT team, tear gas, unruly crowds, etc. break out after a (wait for it)...Earth, Wind & Fire Concert? I couldn't help but have a chuckle... http://gawker.com/5619342/an-earth-wind--fire-concert-turns-ugly?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+gawker%2Ffull+%28Gawker%29 or http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_15859522
  17. Do it up O-town! Halloween in the Hammer is ALWAYS good times!
  18. He does put on a good show. Adding CSN to that is gravy. I just wish the show had been at Molson Amp...that would have got me there. ACC on a nice summer's eve? Nah.
