    Burlington VT

if you're a snowboarder, you might want to check out the Burton store/headquarters. I haven't been but its, I believe, their main flagship home base store, but more of an outlet I think. Probably get great deals this time of year. It is about 4 miles out of town. I love burlington, I'm going as well in a couple weeks for the first time in too long.
  2. Alberta Cross added July 6! Sweet!!
  3. Man, I just wish they would announce the rest of the lineup. sheesh. Woods with support from Kurt Vile just announced MTL and TOR shows during bluesfest but of course no bluesfest dates listed or announced. those would have been sweet additions. do they already know who is playing the empty slots? Are they asleep? what is the deal? I hate how bluesfest communicates their lineup... or doesn't communicate it, as is the case.
  4. the 140 and the O-Train will also get you close, drop off within a 10 minute or so walk.
  5. for me this is great, I live in the area. But downtown would be ideal. I bike downtown all the time, from Hogs Back it is 15 - 20 minute bike ride tops. That is not too bad.
  6. Oh man, that sucks! Hope it isnt too serious. I'm in Vancouver this week and planned to be at the Friday night show. I'm more concerned for his leg than my Friday night plans, I swear. i suppose its doubtful the sheepdogs would continue without them, I'm actually more excited to see them than the Sadies. Learn and Burn was my favourite Canadian album last year, and that is saying something.

    Thanksgiving?

    1. dunno 2. Canada - harvest; US - mayflower landing in plymouth? 3. yep
  8. I think he will win the Polaris prize this year. he just seems the perfect type to win that thing. Plus Nice, Nice, Very Nice is one hell of an album. Can't wait to see him again
  9. Thanks, great read, but it looks like the end was cut out. Might just be me though...
  10. Looks like Dan Mangan was added to the lineup for July 11. First time noticing that, great addition!
  11. so I wonder if there will be any more announcements today? Aren't there supposed to be more announcements before june 1?
  12. The Whigs have been added to the Subway stage on Saturday July 17 for 6:15. I don't believe this was part of the original announcement
  13. I've seen spoon as well and they were incredible. Would love to see them at bluesfest! Just curious where folks saw them as listed for playing with for flaming lips in TO? i couldn't find that anywhere...
  14. my girlfriend found them through emusic. They had a dayrotter session this week and did Ambulance Blues. have not listened yet but I'm sure its great. http://www.daytrotter.com/dt/fruit-bats-concert/20031053-3738223.html
  15. The Duke and the King would be great. Funny, just grabbed this album off of emusic an hour ago. This is a side project of Simone felice of the Felice brothers. sounds great so far. Daytrotter.com just today also posted their session.
  16. Silversun Pickups - Oct 14 Bronson Centre Cage the Elephant are also on this bill!
  17. Well, that was just me and again, I've been dying to see these guys for almost three years. But yeah, John M looked (and sounded, even for him) extremely hungover. Funny enough he said at the Ottawa show that he would normally crowd surf but the security gap between stage and crowd looked to big and he would likely crash...I guess he remembered something from the night before!
  18. Alberta Cross was the best show I saw at bluesfest. They completely blew me away. Sounds like most folks were at Kid Koala at the same time so don't miss these guys next time you get a chance. I'm betting it definitely won't be the Rainbow though... All in all, this was my favourite bluesfest yet - the first time I went every day. I really hope the late night market shows become the norm. DBT exceeded my very high expecations. Deer tick dissapointed due to late start and bad sound at the beginning. I was likely looking forward to them the most, hence the dissapointment but they were much better by the end of the show. I certainly agree with the comments of their Tom Petty cover, that was great. Dead Weather, Black Keys, Deep Dark Woods, the National, I&W, Low Anthem, Okkervil were also highlights. Kudos and many many thanks to all the organizers for an amazing year.
  19. Anyone see Alberta Cross at the Rainbow last night? they put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. Man o man...
  20. The Black Keys were unreal. perfect way to kick off bluesfest
  21. I'm really, really excited for this as well. I didn't want to get too excited until I could see the schedule. That most shows are happening after bluesfest and BSS not clashing with too much when they play is great. Alberta Cross at midnight on the Sunday night at the Rainbow is what I am most excited for. The website for this though provides little information. Since this is directly funded by the feds, maybe no charges at the doors?
  22. We digitized, backed everything up and bought a new tv with the money we got for the CDs. We don't miss the CD's at all. We never used CD's anymore anyway. If worse comes to worse and you lose stuff, any album you get the desire to listen to is only 5 minutes away. It wouldn't take long before most of it was back. But that would likely not happen if you backed it all up.
