  1. Here's a thought...

Create a reality TV show of "Why I Should Be PM"...

Because the leaders we have now would've been voted off the island many episodes ago!!! Well, all of them except Harper because he stole the "immunity idol"...

  2. No, I'm not trying to start a "love-in", still kinda gagging on that thought, but yes Ron is seeing things from a realistic point of view and I'm sure Grapes wants to thump him in the locker room...

Avery made a very disrespectful comment but now the media is using it to pull viewers, listeners, readers to "boost" their ratings by playing the clip over and over...

For something to be "news worthy" it has to be a scandal...

  3. Oh, he's still a dick and we still don't have one party leader worthy to represent our great country...

The polls mean very little given most of the people interviewed and asked questions didn't have a clear picture of anything with the workings of governments, coalitions, parliamentary procedures, etc...

Not the case on this forum!

Canada's economy, like other countries, is still crumbling and whoever is going to try to address the problem better get out their sh!t bats as we're headed into one helluva sh!t storm, both economically and politcally...this is far from over..

  4. Okay, so we all know what Avery has done and now he's been indefinitely been suspended...

But now the media, CBC, TSN, ESPN, CTV, etc keep on playing his "comment in bad taste" over and over...why? To grab attention for their networks!!!

    So who's disrespecting Elisha now?!?!

CHEEE-RRRRIST ALMIGHTY, if it ain't a scandal it ain't worth talking about or so they would have us believe...

Sorry if this has been posted already ;)

  5. It would make sense that part of the GG's decision to allow the suspension is that the coalition doesn't really have a leader. Dion is stepping down in just over 4 months which would leave the coalition somewhat "rudderless" until the new Liberal leader was appointed.

I'm sure the Conservatives will bring this point up over the next few weeks, that the coalition has a leader that will be leaving if it topples his government.

  6. Partially digested now, and experiencing increasing dyspepsia.

    Did the GG eff up?

In my opinion, YES. This has created a precedent for all governments that follow as a way to duck/run & hide from democracy.

Why didn't she make Harper & The Conservatives face the music? Only she can answer that and I'm sure she has her reasons.

Maybe she was pissed off at all of them for putting an end to her European visit and has now sat them all in time-out corners.

But now we have to deal with two months of BS that will be at the highest level. It's going to be nasty.

  7. the attack ads have already started, and mark my words they will heat up on all sides because of a threat of election early next year

they are making a mockery of the system.

and for the last time, birdy THE COALITION IS NOT UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND IT IS NOT UNDEMOCRATIC! it is exactly how the system is supposed to work.

Yes, it is how the system is SUPPOSED to work but Harper also had the right to ask for a suspension, though he did it to save his ass and his government.

There will be so much sh!t happening over the next two months such as the Cons offering positions to opposition members to more backroom deals and anything else you can imagine.

All while our economy is going down the sh!tter...

    Like I've said, a fuggin' three-ring circus... :(

  8. I should have made the second comment in purple since, though I don't like all this shit, I also think that putting it off completely for another two months just to go through the same thing again (which is what I think will happen) is just stupid. Lets deal with this shit now, new election, coalition, whatever, but stopping government for a couple months is the last thing I want to see.

Exactly. Though I see where the GG is coming from. She's giving all the parties the opportunity to either work through this time of squabbling and put together an economic package that all parties are satisfied with and if that can't be achieved then I believe it will be handed over to the coalition, if it still exists and if not, then there will be an election.

I don't want to be subject to 8 weeks of Conservative BS ads on TV shouting the name "Separatist Coalition, evil, blah blah blah".

I have lost enough respect for them as it is.

Harper has been granted his two month vacation and he should use it to tackle the issue which is the ECONOMY, not attacking the opposition.

  9. I have a question reading some of the comments on here...

What do you guys think Harper should have done?

If he didn't prorogue, do you think he should have pushed for an election?

Obviously he's not going to sit back and let the coalition come to fruition (thank god) (which is much more undemocratic in my opinion), so what other option did he have?

He could have swallowed his pride and stepped down and let someone step into the role as PM. Everytime this man opens his mouth he lies and twists words of his own and others. Yes, most politicians do the same but he is the King at this.

To call another election at the cost of Canadians in an economic crisis would prove total ignorance and a complete lack of understanding of the current situation.

I don't think 6 to 8 weeks of suspended parliament will cool tempers. But what do I know.

  10. harper gets his wish. brutal

Yes, this is brutal indeed. He's a chicken-sh!t spineless coward who is trying to run and hide to save his own ass instead of trying to save the collective asses of Canada!

To prorogue parliament at the BEGINNING of a session shows how screwed up his government is and now sets a very dangerous precedent for future governments.

  11. Speaking of conspiracy theories, how's this...

The Cons & the PQ have secretly planned this current situation and when the coalition takes over, the PQ don't support the coalition, the Libs & NDP crash, burn & disintegrate and all that's left are the Cons & PQ...oh yeah, and the Green Party ;)

Harper being from Alberta will let the PQ separate and have their own country, Harper will be King of The Great West Strong & Free and the maritimes will become part of New England...

  12. Okay Ms Hux, not sure if you drove much when you lived in Toronto, but if you did think back to that time and I'm sure you'll feel a bit better about your traffic woes...

I rarely use my car in the city; always on my two-wheeled pony!

  13. Why are Ducceppe and Layton speaking?

    This is f'ing joke.

Oh yes, a very sad joke and most of us who are paying attention to these clowns are not laughing.

Again, just my opinion, I think Layton has a much larger role in this coalition movement than is being seen but as he's "behind" the Libs then he's not driving the bus...

I believe Layton and Duceppe will be speaking "live"...

Dion's speach was too long and painful to listen to but a good finish when he clarified he would be stepping down as leader and possibly as Prime Minister if the coalition becomes a reality.

  14. Oh... and that's just confirmed.

I agree, I think he's going to prorogue though he didn't come out and say that in his speech.. which was redundant...nothing new from what he's been saying since this all began...

Dion dropped the ball for his speech showing up late...it should have been right on Harper's heels...

Edit to add: Layton & Duceppe will be speaking later on this evening...

  15. a royal waste of 300 million dollars.

And I'm not sure that the GG would agree to a snap election if Harper asked for one just for that reason given the fact that this whole issue is over the economic crisis...to go out and spend another 300 million dollars...Ned, you so crazy!!!

  16. I'm in Toronto and the conversations that I've been hearing and part of definitely have covered the same points you've expressed. And that's part of it. When Layton was calling for a coalition pre-Oct 14 the reaction was "okay, so HOW does that work?" and I would think that because the election was held in less time than previous elections, Dion & the Libs didn't think they had time to explore that option, which would have been the right assumption(?)

Again, speculation on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were "backroom talks" pre-October 14 about this coalition being formed if the Conservatives did win a minority. I firmly believe that a non-confidence vote would've been called on the smallest point in the throne speech.

I for one will be happy when there's a definitive answer from the GG as to what the hell is going to take place and when it will happen.

As interesting as all of this is, it's draining!!!
