  1. We go RAIN or SHINE today, folks! We've got a big tent to cover the lot, lots of cold beer, and a pile of good, local musics. Things get going around noon!

So I'm one of the organizers of this event, and thought I'd post about it here, as some peeps might be interested. A few of us have decided to put together our own, all local, one day mini-festival and it's going down this Saturday June 25, at the Barley Mow parking lot on Bank in Old Ottawa South. In following with the other great local showcases, we wanted to bring a bunch of local independent bands together, who might not usually have the opportunity to play on the same stage, and just try to get a bunch of people out for a fun time in the sun. The event runs from 12:00pm-8:30pm at the Barley Mow, 1060 Bank St. We'll have a bunch of door prizes throughout the day, 50/50 draw, BBQ, and a portion of proceeds from the door will be going to two charities: HARMONY HOUSE - http://www.harmonyhousews.com/ NELSON HOUSE - http://www.nelsonhouse.on.ca/ Hilariously enough, the event will be hosted by A Channel's own Bill "Outlaws & Heroes" Walychka. So yeah, if ya dig, come on out! Here is the lineup: Julia Dales Monobrow Brendan Flynn and the Terrible Liars Winchester Warm The White Wires ACRES The Murder Plans The Goodluck Assembly Tickets are available through Ticketweb, and at the door. 3. If anyone is curious, our new album "A Gentle Reminder", is now streaming online here. We're super excited to get it out and into some ears! We will be playing a show on March 25 to celebrate the release at Mavericks with Glory Glory Man United (Halifax) and The Gallop (Ottawa). It will then be available for sale in LP and digital formats. Enjoy!
  4. Man, we had a blast last night! Thanks to everyone who came out.
  5. Rock Party! As far as I know doors are 9:00. I don;t think we'd be going on earlier than 10:15, and Golden Dogs at 11:30-11:45. I've not been told otherwise, at least. Also, thanks Aaron, but Brian is the real dreamboat. He's a beautiful man, indeed...
  6. Can't make it, but it should be good times. These boys never disappoint! I believe Adam Puddington will be joining them on the bill. They're his back-up band, so I imagine it will be pretty seamless.
  7. Everybody's doin' the Barnes Dance....
  8. One of the first things that came to mind for me. I'm a terrible person.
  9. Anyone know if there will be a pre-sale like last years show? If not, it's time to roll out the sleeping bag...
  10. Not in the context of the series though. It was perhaps a poor example of the strip if you don't know the characters. Trust me, This comic is so rewarding once you get into it. I love PBF and thought it was the funniest comic I could ever find, but Achewood has changed that. I still love PBF though, and am sad that he is not doing it any more.
  11. achewood.com Brilliant! You have to go back and read from the beginning though, as there is much character development. Here's a sample. http://m.assetbar.com/achewood/uua5XVf6m
  12. Well I suppose together we would like the album on a whole, because there are def a few tunes on there I could do without myself.
  13. Really? That tune rocked pretty good I thought. I would have enjoyed Aluminum Park in the set though.
  14. last time I was there was over a year ago and it was the same' date=' so I don't think it's a temporary thing. kinda nice to be able to properly clap for a song for a change. they probably don't want bottles from the drunks rolling down that steep decline to the stage. [/quote'] Hmmm, that does seem like a good idea, though I've been there 3 times in the past year, and I swear you could bring bottles in. In fact, at least one of those times there was a bar open at the back of the main hall.
  15. great show! My 2nd proper time seeing them. I really dug it, and thought the song selection was pretty good, but would have loved a few more tunes off At Dawn, and It Still Moves. Great energy though, and the band was as tight like jeans on a hipster. Boourns for no drinking in the main hall though! I suppose they lost their liquor license for some reason. Sucks as the venue prob lost a pile of money on beer sales.
