    His tunes have been a part of Christmas tradition for North American families for the past 45 years, close as an old friend, comfortable as an old blanket.
    As one third of the legendary San Francisco-based Vince Guaraldi Trio, Jerry Granelli recorded what is arguably the greatest Christmas album of all time in 1965 – the soundtrack to the animated classic A Charlie Brown Christmas.

    Today Granelli is the only remaining member of the famed trio and this Christmas season he’s on the road to share the story of the band that recorded the famous soundtrack. Part oral history, part concert and part screening, join us for a unique opportunity to revisit Charles Schultz’s Christmas Classic with live musical accompaniment by the Jerry Granelli Trio. This performance promises to be an unforgettable experience for Peanuts and jazz music aficionados alike.
    Granelli and his band will be joined on stage with a local choir, the Cross Town Youth Chorus.

    The TD Ottawa Jazz Festival’s popular annual benefit concert returns for an 18thyear to Library and Archives Canada November 19 for an evening of music and fun, highlighted by the rousing, emotional music of Toronto singer-songwriter Basia Bulat. The event will also feature a live auction with a variety of exciting items up for bid including exclusive memorabilia from past Festival headliners, travel, adventure and spa packages, excursions, concert tickets and much more.

    Jazz and music lovers have much to look forward to in 2015. The Ottawa Jazz Festival will present the 4th TD Ottawa Winter Jazz Festival this February over two weekends from Feb. 6 – 8 and Feb. 13 – 15. The first weekend features a remarkable array of Canadian and international jazz heavyweights. The second weekend showcases unique projects and collaborations with a consummate gathering of remarkable jazz artistry. Shows in Sacred Spaces features the five individual artists such as Martha Wainwright in their own unique shows featured throughout various smaller spaces inside Dominion-Chalmers United Church. Later that evening inside the Sanctuary each artist will perform 3 songs in one breath-taking musical tribute to Canadian legend singer songwriter Leonard Cohen’s 80th birthday!

    The annual Ottawa Jazz Festival Benefit Concert and Live Auction is back! Coming Thursday, Nov. 6 at the Library and Archives Canada Chanteuse Susie Arioli will perform her latest album, “All the Way”

     

    The three time Juno Awards nominee Susie Arioli is recognized for her gentle, warm voice that she brings to authentic interpretations of jazz and blues standards.  She exploded upon the scene with the creation of her band in 1998. She and her group have opened for Ray Charles at the Montreal International Jazz Festival and have been in the limelight ever since, performing regularly at festivals, concerts, touring, and gigging in jazz venues around the world.

  7. You had better dress warmly because the forecast for February in the Capital just got a whole lot cooler. That’s because the Ottawa Jazz Festival, in partnership with the National Capital Commission and Winterlude, launches the first annual Winter Jazzfest which blows through town February 2 – 4 in venues throughout downtown Ottawa.
