There is another style of 30L keg as well (Beau's uses it, as well as a few others) It is the same height as the 20L and of course a little wider. It should fit in even a small fridge (with some small cut-outs on the door) You should check the height of the fridge as well. You may need a low profile coupler to make it all fit. Low Profile

I have converted a few fridges and freezers to kegerators or keezers over the last few years. I would suggest simgo.com for your regulator and hoses etc. as they pretty much have everything and they are based in Canada. You can get used co2 tanks at most fire extinguisher refill places. Perlick foward-sealing faucets are your best bet for a quality tap. If you don't use a generic tap daily it will start to stick and get dirty. The Perlicks are easier to clean as well.

Valid point. I don't have a hybrid and I guess I could have one. I was just thinking that if the ability to produce the electricity for such a small amount more then it would be easier to introduce as we have less of a choice than we do with cars.

I assumed that they were "injecting" the power and therefore producing it, or at least purchasing it from green sources.

We are doing the same with our 'new to us' old house, new furnace, windows, insulation etc. and trying our best to decrease our usage. I think we will be going with the bullfrog concept sooner than later. I don't think the cost/efficiency of solar is there yet to be a feasible alternative for us yet, but I would love to go that way.

So I don't think I get it... If it only costs $1 more per day for all of your personal electricity usage to be green, clean energy, why don't we make things like this mandatory and just charge for it? Is it really for the money savings that we use other sources or would it be impossible for them to produce enough if everyone signed up for this concept? Maybe I'm slow, but can someone explain why this is an option and not just 'the way it is'.

Great news about Mehldau. All three shows I have been to were incredible. I was planning on heading to Toronto and Quebec City for the spring shows but now I may just wait until JazzFest. Everyone should see him (and Alain Caron, so just buy a pass).

Scot - I don't think you have enough saliva for the whole place, but thanks for the offer. I have called a few places now and it looks like it would be $1.10 to $2.00 a sq ft for just the sand and finish. They add a little more if it needs to be stained. I have quotes ranging from $1800 to $3800. I have two more places to call today, "East Wood" and I'll try Mr. Hardwood as well. I wish I had time to do it myself as it would be less than $400 with the sander rental, stain and varnish. Alas, there is no time. Our house sold over the weekend and we have to get the new place ready within two weeks so we can move everything in. House Warming details to come...

I am trying to find someone to refinish about 1000 sq ft of oak flooring in Ottawa (sand, stain, and three coats of finish). I have talked to Rome Flooring and the quote is about $2500. They are one of the best in Ottawa but I was wondering if anyone has recommendations or info about anyone else. Thanks

Jaimoe - I misunderstood, I thought that you thought we had painted the inside brick wall onto the wall (I had people call and ask if it was painted, wallpaper, or real) The outside was painted already, a horrible red-orange, so we repainted a slight more appealing colour.

Jaimoe - that's real brick my friend. It's the old exterior wall of the house. We striped it all down, repointed it and sealed it. It took forever (150 hours total) and we love it. If I ever find a brick wall in a house again, the first thing I will do is cover it up.

Someone down the street took it from us. It worked like a charm but didn't suit the new kitchen. It was awesome though, it had a rotisserie setup sticking out of the back of the oven. Never used it but it still cool.

I would really love take on reno projects for others, but I really have no time and I'm no pro. I can help you get your head around doing some or all of the work yourself. As with most things, it's more will than skill that is needed. Doing it yourself saves piles of money too. So you can spend it on higher quality stuff for the house. The total cost for the whole home renovation (including some new windows, new doors, flooring, two new bathrooms, new kitchen, plumbing, electrical, brand new roof and furnace, tools that I didn't have before and some of the the furniture) came to around $28k. Which is about the cost of hiring a contractor to do the kitchen and one bathroom.

Bouche - I never even noticed the sign change until you pointed it out. Funny thing is that if you look at our street sign on a sunny day you can see that they reused an old one, it used to be a Sussex sign that they put Stirling over top. Again thanks for all the nice comments, now who wants to buy my house? The bidding starts at $10.

The floors are my favourite part of the place, well that and the brick wall. The floors in the living and dining areas are 80 year old pine and the ones in the master bedroom are the 100 year old pine plank that were put in when the house was built. They were a pain to refinish but I love them.

Thanks Basher and M. It feels like I've been living on one of those tv shows for the last five years. This is our third project, the other two were a duplex and triplex that we have kept for investment properties. I'll be happy once it sells and I don't have to work for 8 hours a day before and after work.

As some of you know, I have spent the last year and a half renovating my home. It is finally done. We bought it to fix and flip in one year but the project was a little bigger than we had anticipated. I should have expected the problems as it is a 100 year old house. When we were nearing completion we decided we wanted to stay for a little while and enjoy our hard work. Literally days after the decision was made to stay, we found our dream home and bought it. This place will now be up for sale within the next week. The new house doesn't need anywhere near the amount of renovations and is pretty livable right away. I think I am going to take the year off from any house work so I expect I will be on the board and out and about more often. Here are a few of the before and after pics of the home for you to look at. I am quite proud of the finished product so I wanted to show it off.
