  1. I've decided to stick around Toronto for the weekend instead of my usual pilgrimage to Haliburton and feel like catching a show tonight. My first choice is the Pearl Jam show at Molson Amp and second is Modest Mouse at Opera House (I think). I'm sure both shows sold out. Craigslist scalpers are asking ridiculous prices. I haven't seen either band live, but enjoy both. Anyone have an extra to either show tonight at a reasonable price?
  2. wtf? presale is old out already? that's fucking nuts! it's 10:01am fer fugs sake
  3. agreed ! I'd like to check out Plants and Animals on the long weekend. Listened to them on my drive back to the city yesterday and was really enjoying their sound. thanks POG for introducing me to another great band
  4. sorry for your situation my passport just expired at the end of July and I just keep on procrastinating renewing the damn thing. Now I really want to go to Darien and won't be able to go either...oh well. Best of luck dumping your tix
  5. also VERY pumped for the show in November
  6. that's funny...exactly what I thought when I read his post Golden Boots opened for Dr Dog in April @ Lee's...talked with one of the guys outside and he was very humble and down to earth. He was really pumped to be opening for Dr.Dog every night I remember. I like their sound. The Cave Singers (are they considered a new band?) who also opened for Dr.Dog that night are really good and are coming back to Toronto next month (2 shows in Montreal) 14 Sep 2009 20:00 Horseshoe Tavern Toronto, Ontario First Aid Kit = pretty voices but bore me rather quickly The Mystic Valley Band (ya, I know it's Conor and he's been around for a long time, but this new band just released their 2nd album and they rock)
  7. I remembered, but I listen to Jerry almost everyday watched a bunch of youtube vids from the 81 Germany show yesterday to celebrate his gift
  8. Stone Rider sounds like The Datsuns to me...I like  getting shiprocked however, sounds bloody awful (but man, do I ever hope to make JamCruise this January)
  9. if attendance at last nights show was an indication of their popularity up here, then I would say they have a ways to climb good show though...I had fun

    RC: wilco

Last night was my first live Wilco experience. I went in pretty optimistic as most of my friends that like their music have seen them live in the past and had only great things to say about their live show. Crossing the border into Lewiston was a breeze. Such a contradiction to the 3 hours I was held up on Thursday evening when I went down to Buffalo for Dark Star Orchestra. The town and venue were really nice. Lewiston is very quaint with lots of beautiful historical buildings. Artpark itself is awesome. Lots of people hanging out before the show, drinking beer, playing frisbee, etc. We were enjoying the vibe in the lot so much that we didn't realize Conor had started by the time 7pm rolled around. No worries, as far as we could tell he had just begun his set when we made our way towards the pavillion. I really dig Conor's music and songs and was there as much to see him and the Mystic Valley Band as I was to see Wilco! Everything they played was off the two albums they have released since the band formed. Lots of good tunes from both. Not sure if they played Gone Gone NYC before we got in, but that was one I was expecting and didn't end up hearing. He is such a funny guy. He had the lighting director turn all the lights off for his last tune which he played solo. It was White Shoes off of Outer South and he claimed it was a love song and he was embarrassed. Some of my highlights from Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Bands set: Get Well Cards Cape Canaveral Big Black Nothing Wilco...opened with Wilco (the song) and rocked the place there after. I got to hear a few of my faves during their set. I am trying to break your heart Impossible Germany California Stars (fuggin' sweet!) and so much more goodness Anyway, I should be sleeping right about now but unfortunately I am stuck at work instead I had a blast last night though and wanted to add to this thread. Thanks so much for everything YATS..you're a solid brother  good times
