  1. There were tons of girls at the front. My wife was one of the many drooling over Jack and Brendon.
  2. I was up front to the right of stage and it was full of girls. I guess the sausage-fest party was elsewhere in the venue.
  3. I like the new album better because it rocks more - I find the first album more British Invasion where the lastest is more rooted in 70's album rock. However, "Level" is their best song. I gotta say though, that both records are growers.
  4. Forgive my ignorance, but what is a Z-Trip and why is it a secret show?
  5. Wow, I loved every second of it. Maybve watching paint dry is underrated.
  6. Where is my mind? Of course I forgot to add this little film that's changed my life for the better:
  7. I urge all you Star Wars fanatics out there (and fans of great cinema) to check out Akira Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress, a film that helped inspire Lucas to make his iconic trilogy. Also check out Kurasawa's other masterpieces like Yojimbo, Throne of Blood, Ran, Rashomon, Ikiru, The Seven Samurai, Sanjuro, Kagemusha and a few others. His prime actors through his films, Takeshi Shimura and the great Toshiro Mifune, are two of the finest ever to grace the screen and I think Kurasawa is the greatest director of all time.
  8. "Blue Veins" and "Level" had experimental atmospheric elements leading into both songs, and both were highlights of the night.
  9. I got home from The Raconteurs far later than I wanted - I even missed the west delay feed. I'll pull the Leno tape at work tonight. I love that kid's moxie.
  10. And check out the chilling German film The Lives of Others (Oscar winner for best foreign language film in 2007). One sad footnote to the film is that the unforgettable star, Ulrich Mühe, died of stomach cancer not too long after the film was released, although he did live long enough to win both a German Film Award and European Film Award for best actor.
  11. Here's some of my favs: The Evil Dead Trilogy Slap Shot Planet of the Apes (original, of course) The Great Escape The Sand Pebbles The Hustler Night of the Hunter White Heat Donnie Darko Bubba Ho-Tep The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Star Wars Trilogy Battle Royale Violent Cop The Lives of Others The Devil's Backbone Grave of the Fireflies The Iron Giant westerns by Ford, Mann, Hawks and Peckinpah Planes, Trains and Automobiles Caddyshack Blade Runner
  12. I'm sure when I'm sober I'll write more, but right now, the show tonight was great. The Sadies were excellent openers and the crowd seemed to be into them. The Raconteurs rocked it for the remainder of the night. That's it until tomorrow.
  13. I can't wait to see what sap drafts O.J. Mayo. The guy is poison and not the youthful age he says he is... allegedly.
  14. I'm a volunteer for TEV - Toronto Environmental Volunteers. It's an excellent organization: http://www.toronto.ca/wes/techservices/involved/outreach/tev/index.htm
  15. I hope to god you aren't wearing that G. Love shirt... again... today?
  16. I'm wearing my MC5 shirt (see avatar), so it'll be easier for you to spot me since I don't know what you look like.
  17. If a deal gets done, it may come as late as draft day. BTW, have any of you arm-chair GMs been following the Raptors potential draftee workouts? Don't be shocked if they draft Robin Lopez.
  18. I just called the venue: Sadies @ 8:00 Raconteurs @ 9:15
  19. That's a good point jay. Also, try talking to some folks at the bluegrass afternoon at The Old Nick on Sunday's (Broadview and Danforth).
  20. Mulling over going to Betty's before the show.
  21. Skepticism aside, I'd love it if Phish put out another album as good as Farmhouse and toured behind it. Although, I doubt that will ever happen again.
  22. Although I think it's every Canadian's duty to visit Dieppe at some point. I'll do just that next year.
  23. I'm actually hoping more for a return of Oysterhead.
  24. I could care less. Their time has come and gone. I loved when they were relevant. It's all nostalgia now; more of a middle-age one at that.
