  1. I can't really remember what my first favourite song was since I started to listen and get interested in pop/rock and folk music at a real early age, something like age 5. Some songs that I can remember loving in the early 70's were (My parents bought me the Red Album): "Help", "Paperback Writer", "Yesterday"; (I also had High Tides and Green Grass) "I Can't Get No Satisfaction", "Get Off Of My Cloud" and my parents liked Peter, Paul and Mary, so I tried not to cry when I heard "Puff The Magic Dragon". I also liked air jamming to "Over The Hills and Far Away" with older friends of mine who had older brothers, hence the Zeppelin interest.
  2. Count me in for two. How do I get the tickets?
  3. Jules, I have interest in two tickets, but I can't finalize it yet. Could you pencil instead of pen me in?
  4. Snoop and Willie have nothing on this pairing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zMhSjDqvRs
  5. Hybrids are the way to go: half mountain bike and half ten-speed - the tires can handle the bumps and they go faster than a mountain bike.
  6. Streetcars and the subway will resume normal service by 8:00 tonight.
  7. And here's a little of what you missed at the concert in Toronto:
  8. Wow, putting yourselves next to the Mona Lisa in the front row. What's next? A country duet with Tim McGraw? Wait a minute, they do one on this album too.
  9. Gee, I never thought Def Leppard could improve Sgt. Peppers and We're Only In It For The Money's album covers, but I was wrong.
  10. Def Leppard's latest: Songs From The Sparkle Lounge
  11. A strange scenario with Philly better than Montreal in Game I and the Habs better last night. Biron was great. I liked his interview after the game with Elliot.
  12. Portishead put on mesmerizing shows. Adrian Utley is a killer guitarist.
  13. And the ACL performance gives the illusion that Ray's live focus nowadays is on his solo material, which it is not if you catch him at the Bluesfest. It was 70-30 Kinks in Toronto, however his new solo stuff more than holds its own, which is no small feat.

Oh yeah, The Arcade Fire show at Massey Hall had an unbelievably great audience (and incredible concert experience for that matter) and did Toronto and the Arcade Fire proud.
  15. Colorado should be embarrassed. This little love-in no-hitter fits right into Detroit's hands.

    NFL Draft

I believe McFadden has one ongoing paternity suit and two more on the way. Good thing Upshaw has ensured a great signing bonus for the high picks.

I've been to many concerts where the T.O. crowds have been downright embarrassing, however it was not the case with The White Stripes in Toronto, where they have been particularly awesome: standing-up en masse and grooving for the whole show. Same with the Ben Harper crowds and the ones that go to see, for some reason, Dave Matthews. I know that real punk crowds are traditionally boisterous. The TSOOL show that I mentioned rocked and the crowd really whooped it up even though it was fucking packed. Infra Riot was only the second song in and the crowd was just getting oiled-up.

    NFL Draft

I know you know about the TV schedule Andre, but for those that don't know, TSN is carrying the draft on their alternate channel.
  19. I totally remember when that show went down. I just started at Ryerson in Radio and Television. I respectfully hated Smashing Pumpkins at the time (and still do) and was just getting into Pearl Jam and the Peppers, but I passed on the show due to school and living in a new city and not knowing anyone. I heard it rocked though.

    NFL Draft

Thanks. I just opened that at work.
  21. My lord Man! I guess they never made it to Anvil or The Allman Brothers? Please tell me they didn't crank-up any of this "A" section's albums when you were around:

    Lost

First, Mike doesn't know what season of Battlestar Galactica he's watching, and now he's confused about what Lost episode he's watching... not to mention he's furious with me because he never listened to the many testimonials regarding the genius of the film Once (these testimonials only recently registered in his brain). I think Booche needs to arrange an intervention. I'll gas my car up and wait for the call.

    Mike, check the ABC website.
  25. Hey, do you remember Johnny's solo career? He started out as a struggling solo artist only to later join the re-tooled Skynyrd line-up. Anyway, I think the surviving members never should have "re-started" calling themselves Lynyrd Skynyrd. The soul of the band can't be replaced (and Steve Gaines was important too, but not moreso than the other co-guitarists). The only legit incarnation of the band not using the original name was the defunct off-shoot Rossington-Collins Band (circa 1979). That band had many of the surviving core Skynyrd members and they even garnered a few AOR hits, something the new Skynyrd has failed to do outside of the South.
