  1. They sometimes have one day that doesn't get announced until later (that was what happened the first time they had Lynyrd Skynyrd), I think that is what is happening here.
  2. Anybody know about the Tribute To Jack Bruce that is showing for July 13th?
  3. Cue the inevitable kvetching about how this is the worst lineup ever, but I am seeing lots of stuff that I am looking forward to. John Fogerty, Bryan Ferry, Ben Harper, Joe Jackson, Tal Wilkenfeld, RHCP, Duran Duran, the Monkees, Yukon Blonde ...if you can't find something to enjoy, you are just too damned finicky.
  4. One does not tap one's toes to "Take It To The Limit". One sways from side to side, possibly with an ignited lighter aloft.
  5. The most offensive line for me was : And hating the Eagles defines whether a music fan is a fan of music or just a bandwagon-jumper. Excuse me, but who in the holy fuck are you to invalidate anyone else's music tastes? And whether someone likes, dislikes or hates the music of the Eagles (and I will be open in that I really did not care for their music for most of my life before becoming a huge fan in the past couple of years), is now the fucking time to print this and crap all over their fans who are in mourning?
  6. May I please kick this Gersh Kuntzman twit in the testicles? Please?
  7. I was into them for about 5 minutes, then lost the taste for it. Years later got the greatest hits and found it a bit samey. Very similar in tone for vocal and instrumental harmonies. I tended to like bands that had a bit more breadth and variety to them. Then I started listening to their proper albums a couple of years ago and the lightbulb switched on. Hearing the songs in their proper album context was a real ear opener for me. I've been fanatical about them ever since.
  8. And Dale Griffin AKA Buffin, drummer for Mott The Hoople. The Eagles and Mott are 2 bands I got super into in the past couple of years. I have to stop getting into bands

  10. So, of course, my reactions to that link : 1) Mavis Staples is way too far down on that billing 2) Somebody actually named their band AC Slater 3) Hang on, Lush reunited? Why did nobody tell me?
  11. Psyched for this one. Lots of new songs and, by all accounts, his guitar playing hit a peak on this tour.
  12. Stand by it, Ronnie Baker Brooks was amazing, danced my ass off to Jungle By Night, Willie Nile was an incredible discovery, Richard Thompson, Lynyrd Skynyrd & Deep Purple delivered like they always do, Lucas Haneman put on a wonderful set, Current Swell followed by Black Mountain followed by Gaslight Anthem was a mind blowing night of music, finally got to see Canned Heat and they didn't disappoint, the Beaches and Temperance Movement rocked, and Weird All was a whole lot of fun (and I wasn't really a big Weird Al fan going in). Almost every day I went had some sort of musical peak and several days had more than one.
  13. I went there almost every day. i would, without hesitation, rank this as one of the best Bluesfests I have ever been to and everyone else missed out. I certainly never thought I would say that going in to it, but that is my assessment of it now.
  14. Just getting back on the board after vacation ... it was a brilliant set.
  15. Does the cancelling of the Iggy Azalea tour mean a headlining spot has opened up?
  16. A weird way for them to mark my birthday.
  17. Bluesfest grid line-up has been posted. Still lots of gaps to be filled.
  18. I don't think they were all uncredited. I'm pretty sure, at least, that Jerry Scheff, Harvey Brooks and Ray Neapolitan all got listed in the album credits.
  19. A pity two of the truly great country musicians (Buck Owens was a wonderful singer) will forever in my mind automatically be associated with Hee Haw.
  20. Sorry to go off topic by asking a question about RBC Bluesfest 2015, but does anyone know when they will release the full grid schedule for the festival?
  21. What was the line from Rock Star? "I just keep putting on makeup until I want to fuck myself."
