  1. Saturday, February 05, 2011 RIDDIM RIDERS ~~ CD Release!!! ~~ + Birthday songs for Bob Marley ~~ reggae, roots, dub ~~ + Dj Themes & Guests @ Casbah -- 9PM -- LIC/AA :: $8 or $15 w/CD riddimriders.com casbahlounge.ca Facebook Event Page Finally! On February 5th Riddim Riders will release their much- anticipated first CD. A lot of people have been asking for it and after numerous delays Hamilton's finest live roots reggae act is thrilled to have some smoking hot tunes available. The 8 songs were recorded at Grant Avenue Studio, plus a bit of tweaking at Orcana Recording Studios and Catherine North Studios. Mixed by Toronto's international Juno Award-winning reggae crew Dubmatix, guest appearances include ISax on sax (worked with Canadian legends Lighthouse and Downchild Blues Band, plus reggae acts Sly and Robbie, Gregory Isaacs, Ken Boothe), and Jamie "Lips" Cameron from the band Lo-Fi adds a guitar solo on the track "Only Solution", plus a few of his signature chops near the beginning of the song. The 8-song release stays true to the foundations of classic reggae and lovers rock, while at the same time adding elements that are completely modern through the innovative use of keyboard hooks, backing vocals, and creamy guitar riffs. The self-titled CD includes songs Ask Yourself, Please Don't Go, Dreamin', Do You Ever Wonder, No One, Only Solution, Rock On, and Jah Music. All songs written by Riddim Riders except Rock On which is a classic Gregory Isaacs tune. Riddim Riders are Franklin Joseph on drums & vocals, Richard Dailey on bass & vocals, Erold Dailey on keys & vocals, Brian Carson on guitar, and Mike Rajczak on lead vocals & percussion. Please visit riddimriders.com for more information.

  4. This is gonna kick ass. I'm with ya edger on the Mike/Jeff experience, and it's so awesome you're sitting in with Todd and Dan. I thought the night couldn't get any better and now this. Amazing. Set times Mike Filipowitsch & Jeff Heisholt - 12:55 to 2:10 Todd Gillies, Dan Walsh, and Edger - 11:40 to 12:40 Rob Willett and Jamie Shea from Creepin' Chester - 10:25 to 11:25 Sam Klass - 9:40 to 10:10 Steven Vincent from Ragged Bankers - 9:00 to 9:30 these set times are pretty firm although there won't be much gear to deal with so I might try to start the 11:40 set at 11:30, which would also get Mike and Jeff up there 10 minutes earlier. I like this idea but there's some space to work with just in case. Either way music starts at 9pm. Now that I think of it I'm wondering if we might see the 11:40 set blend into the 12:55 set. One of the guys mentioned playing some tunes together so maybe we should fill the 15 minute set break and create one long set with a killer jam in the middle. This would be cool. I also recommend checking out Sam's set. I've been booking him shows for a few years now and I think he recently took a step up in his playing. I had him open the Marco Benevento show in Hamilton and I was really impressed with his vocal/guitar looping. Can't wait to see you guys!

Guaranteed.
  6. here's some awesome Flat Earth Ensemble Flat Earth Ensemble, the Suite part 3 of 4
  7. It's pretty neat Fareed recorded with you guys. I knew he was going into the studio the next day but I had no idea it was with you. When I was confirming Garaj Mahal to play Hamilton I was also considering a Toronto show and you guys were the support act I was thinking about. Neat coincidence. Maybe next time with Flat Earth Ensemble. I look forward to hearing the new cd.
  8. Here's a few pics Kai sent me after the gig. Kai and Eric from Garaj Mahal
  9. I suck, I'm so late on the thanks and such. Got hit hard with a cold and I'm way behind on everything. It was such a good time with so many fun and funny moments. The music was smoking hot and the Fats Cats were amazing. Another big thanks to those guys for allowing me the opportunity to put them on this bill. Without their energy the night wouldn't have been the same, and the dance floor wouldn't have started so early. I was delighted to see so many people there around 10ish. What normally might have been a later crowd showed up early for the Fat Cats and it was obvious. Garaj Mahal floored me from beginning to end and pretty much played everything I wanted to hear. As previously mentioned in a different thread Fareed Haque is leaving the band soon so this was an extra special show. I was quite surprised when Fareed arrived and told me the news. In case anyone hasn't read the other thread he's leaving the band to pursue his other projects. Garaj Mahal will play as a three piece and from what I was told it sounds like they'll have a much different approach. I'm interested to see how it goes and I think they'll do just fine. Fareed's Flat Earth Ensemble is pretty wild and I recommend checking them out when I bring them in next year. Thanks to the Fat Cats for being so awesome, thanks to Brodie and the staff at the Casbah for all their help, thanks to Garaj Mahal for being so great to work with, a big thanks to Tonin for showing up with such an awesome crew, and a huge thanks to everyone else who purchased a ticket. Thank you so much for supporting the show.
  10. wow. What a night. So good. Must sleep. Thank you Fat Cats and Garaj Mahal. Proper thanks and review tomorrow.
  11. Right on man. Adv ticket sales for this have been great. Right around the 2008 adv sales. It's a guaranteed good time going down. A lot of kick ass people gonna be there. I am soooo stoked. If anyone's sitting on the fence i'll have some tix online through ticketweb.ca until 8pm tomorrow. Doors @ 9.
  12. The Fat Cats will play until 11:25 and I'm aiming to get them on for 10. They might start and play 15 minutes later but I won't know for sure until a few hours before doors tomorrow. Get there for 10pm and you'll be safe.
  13. good times in Toronto already. There's a gang of us at the InterContinental getting ready to go for eats and drinks. Crowes are on sharp at 7:30. Doors at 6:30. See ya there.
