  1. I used to watch the cartoon Avatar series every Saturday AM fairly religiously and it is really quite good. Not the best cartoon ever or anything but the storyline and characters are solid for sure. Too bad the movie was a flop but I didn't have high hopes at all. Great cartoons often don't translate well into live action. The Guyver cartoon series is probably my all time favourite but the live action movies are absolutely terrible. Casting Mark Hamill as The Guyver didn't rescue the whole thing either. Absolutely craptastic movies.
  2. Grooves on Clarence is not bad for new and used records and they also have some vintage audio gear for sale as well. Target will not likely have much from the 70's but it's worth a trip in if you're in town and it's not far from Grooves either. Actually I just noticed that they had a vintage MacIntosh 70's amp that just sold so you never know. Sansui and Marantz tend to be the most highly regarded amps from that era but Pioneer, Kenwood etc also had some nice pieces. Check canuckaudiomart.com as well there should be lots of receivers and so forth available there and they are often serviced too which is usually necessary on something of that age. I was not aware of speed city, thanks for the tip on that...
  3. Also, congrats to your brother(Sam I'm guessing) and your folks...
  4. I have a ticket available for this show--row c seat 52. Paid about $90 for it by the looks of things. $50. PM or bobbyweir@hotmail.com
  5. Bump to avoid the void that is page 2 and beyond...
  6. I have a lawn ticket for each night available, $50 for the pair. PM or bobbyweir@hotmail.com
  7. DTS Audio is supposedely one of the best repair places anywhere but I just checked his site and he's not doing dropoffs anymore. Coltech are one of the bigger shops in the Hamilton area, they should be able to help you out. The bigger issue that you'll have is that it'll likely cost you around $100 to fix and you could buy a similar or better sub for around the same cost.
  8. Step 1: Find a key location in the city where a lot of crack is sold. Step 2: Go to location outlined in Step 1 and mention that you have been looking all over the city for a cheap ipod. Step 3: Wait for some poor kid on the subway to get their ipod stolen by a crackhead Step 4: Feel good about getting the best price in the city on an ipod.
  9. Holy fucking shit, Phishtaper has a cottage???
  10. The answer is no. Still lots of steam building on the Analog revival. If in time, digital hard copies(CD's etc) disappear then vinyl could be even more popular than it is today. I doubt that it will continue to peak like it did prior to the invention of the cassette and CD but I doubt that you will see the same decline that you did when those new formats first came out.
  11. There isn't much that's worth collecting for it's monetary value in my experience. Pollock posters would be an obvious exception that I could think of but generally speaking you won't get any more out than you put in. As a result, collecting for the sheer enjoyment of something that you are interested in is where the "value" aspect comes in. Vinyl has certainly become trendy as of late and it seems to be a good marketing tool for bands and so forth but buying a record for anything other than listening purposes doesn't make a lot of sense.

    snow?

  13. That's fucking hillarious that it actually was Leslie Feist at the show. I did a triple take but couldn't really confirm or deny if it was actually her. She seemed a bit plain and was not drawing enough attention for me to think it actually was. It'll be interesting to see what she comes up with next.
  14. Yes, the Barr Bros were quite good and the crowd was incredibly receptive. I've never seen an opener that presumably not many people knew sell so many CD's after their set. Having a listen now, it's pretty good. That being said, The Low Anthem were amazing. I can't recall being more impressed by a band that I've seen for the first time in recent memory. The Fruit Bats were good but this was just SOOOO GOOD. You have to dig on the Americana stuff to really enjoy it I think but if you do it just simply doesn't get much better. Not just one more Saturday night you might say. Anyways, apparently the Barr Bros are opening for Plants and Animals at the Horeshoe on 4-20 so look out for that one too...
  15. WTF is a Nero and WHY THE F should I care?
  16. I'm not sure what the going rate is but the "Your Ad Here" thing has me trying to come up with something good. Either a blatant slam on another skank such as "Rossolee is a Douchebag!" or some fake product such as "Sister Theresa's Blue Balls Ointment" or "Spam Energy Drink" type thing is what I would consider doing. Maybe a few of us should go splitsies on one, who's in???
  17. Thanks for sharing, very neat to see. This fully supports my current theory that Bobby is starting to loose it.
  18. That smiley face clearly does not understand the correct way to use a bong. A for effort though. See you at the show, this is turning out to be a good week...
  19. I have stayed at this hotel through Priceline before(thought it was sweet) but there is no guarantee that you will get it if you bid. That's probably the only way to really get a deal but priceline isn't a good option if you're set on only wanting to stay at one particular hotel.
  20. Broken Arrow, cool!!! Unfortunately most of the Canadian shows will be predominantly sitters which makes for a bit of an awkward show. We get some good acts but often the polite and reserved canuck thing can be a bit of a downer. The balcony for the last 2 Massey Hall shows was very tame but the floor was pretty rockin' by the looks of things.
