h Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 Joni Mitchell 'quitting' music biz By JAM! Music Canadian music legend Joni Mitchell says her latest album will also be her last, Reuters reports. "These are my last two records," the influential Canadian songstress said of her forthcoming double album "Travelogue." The singer, whose career has spanned 35 years, cites her disgust for the music business as the reason for quitting. "I'm quitting after this because the business has made itself so repugnant to me," Mitchell, 59, was quoted as telling the December edition of W magazine. She blasted the recording industry as "the most corrupt one of all. They try not to pay you whenever possible." "Travelogue," a live two-disc collection, features some of Mitchell's greatest hits. It was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra and a backing band that includes Herbie Hancock, Billy Preston and Wayne Shorter. The album is set to hit Canadian stores on November 26. MarcO Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 You know, I really love her but she has aged into a rather ornery, over-precious artist as of late. She's been in the music business for 30-odd years and she has to get out now?!? yes, it's cynical, but part of me wonders if this is just to stir up some attention for her next album, which I will be sure to listen to regardless. In any event, any person who made: Blue The Hissing Of Summer Lawns Hejira Night Ride Home is alright by me! Each and every one, a classic album.
