bouche Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Don't forget to watch the interview and performance of Prince on Much More Music tonight. This was the thing that we missed on wednesday...and I read of a few people on the fan club message boards that got to go and dance with Prince on the set. It should be interesting as he bashes the music industry from what I heard
zero Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 I wasn't very impressed with the special to be honest. I watched it Sunday and parts of it again last night. The P is giving me the willies a bit I think. It's partly that he's so upbeat and cheery that it makes me think it's all a front. Although when he casts one of those disapproving sidelong glances you know he means business. I think it's mainly that he's been recycling quotes from interview to interview and there's not that much depth there to begin with. I mean yes he used a borderline smart phrase like 'intellectual copyright', had some passing thoughts about record companies as delivery service, kids as the future of music etc. The problem is he has said the exact same thing in at least 3 or 4 interviews I've read or seen- word for word. I find this incredibly lame to be honest. Don't get me wrong he is The Man but I'm not very moved by his cursory thoughts on the industry.
MarcO Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Well, Bill W from MMM didn't exactly encourage vigorous debate with questions like:"So a lot of people have described you as a 'visionary'. Would you agree with that description?"One thing about Prince that surprised me was how funny he was.
