Guest Low Roller Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Went to CD Warehouse in Kanata during lunch hour and picked up some gems from the used CD pile: - Miles Davis: In Person, Friday Night $7.99 Stupid good jazz, I'm tapping my foot to it right now. Miles Davis and his band play a show in San Francisco in 1961. You know it's good. - Boards of Canada: In A Beautiful Place $5.99 The best ambient music going right now. Radiohead has NOTHING on these guys when it comes to ambient moods. That's me saying that, and that says a lot. - Tabla Beat Science: Live in San Francisco, 2CD $10.99 In keeping with the San Fran theme, TBS is some really trippy Indian vibes featuring one of the premier tabla players in the world Zakir Hussain. They dub their sound as Adventures in Electro-Acoustic Hypercussion... It's great! And the money shot: - Nick Drake: Pink Moon $6.99 Possibly Dave Lauzon in a previous life, this amazing folk guitarist is new to me, but I heard the album once, on very early morning in a garage in Kingston and it kicked my ass.

If you like that one, pass it on to somebody else, and go and get the two-CD (Friday night and Saturday night) reissue; it's worth the extra cost. Aloha, Brad
Guest Low Roller Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 I heard the re-issue was the shizzle... However it's hard to say no to $7.99 for this biggity bomb~! Update: Nick Drake is kicking my ass all over the place right now. This guy is the original who obviously inspired folks like Dave Matthews and Keller Williams.
AdamH Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 I was with you up until the Dave Lauzon part. Sweet deals nonetheless
Guest Low Roller Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Nick Drake Dave Lauzon Just saying....
bouche Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 whoop....one more look-a-like (sorta) The guy on the right (Darren) was in Harem Scarem. He's got more tattoos than Lauzon though.
Rob Not Bob Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Check out Bryter Later ... in my opinion, the apex of Nick Drake. RnB
