Douglas Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 We (Booche, dogatthestation and his brother Pat, MattieC, and myself) are planning on leaving Thursday early evening as well.
fluffhead77 Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Myself and some other T dot cats are leaving around 6:30 or 7 on Thursday...we have about 3-4 cars in our caravan until Brockville where we'll be meeting up with Jaybone and friends...come join our travelling circus!!
RUSTLE Posted August 9, 2004 Author Report Posted August 9, 2004 leaving wednesday am, hanging out in quebec over night (just north of the border), cruise on into coventry early thursday am, hope to get close to the gates, turn the van off, play some frisbee! word.
Tickler Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Thursday around 2 am , after the bus show here!!
Basher Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Leaving from Ottawa Thursday at around 10am.
Ganga Goddess Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Lionlocks and I are leaving Wednesday sometime from Kitchener, if all goes well at the border...we will be camping somewhere near the Conventry location!! All this time being sooo patient for this event, it is finally within days.......Yes, I'm a little excited!! Actually I've gotta question about the border???? Does anyone know if you can bring all camping neccessities across like food.....all kinds... meat, veggies, and so on, beer, juice??? I can only assume it would be cheaper to buy everything in Canada..... Thanx.. Well see ya'll there................
Ms.Huxtable Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 We just went over this past weekend. You can't bring meat I'm afraid.Buy your booze at the duty free.
bradm Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 You're supposed to declare food, especially fresh fruits and vegetables, and they may actually prevent you from bringing some meat (beef, I think) over the border. I don't think food prices will be that much cheaper in Canada, though, compared to stores over the border. I'd take enough to get over the border, then stock up in the first town you find once you're in the USA. Aloha, Brad
Ganga Goddess Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Well.......Thanks for the prompt reply, and for thee advice :: Just want to be ready for anything and a quick passing through the border ;)......Have a safe trip everyone!!
RUSTLE Posted August 9, 2004 Author Report Posted August 9, 2004 as far as alcohol goes, you can only declare 1 case of beer and 1 bottle of liquor. at least that has been my experience, i have have had to walk 2 cases back over the bridge last year at IT -- tried to get 3 across -- the things you do to drink canadian beer.
bradm Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Actually, one of the reasons I'm looking forward to this weekend is becuase of the opportunity it'll give me to drink American; no, not Bud or Miller, but the good stuff: Sierry Nevada Pale Ale, Harpoon IPA, anything from Magic Hat, and on and on... Aloha, Brad
DevO Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I'm leaving Friday morning from Ottawa.. HOpefully bright & early. Anything worth checking out Thursday night in Ottawa by the way?
MarcO Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I could completely lose my mind. I could wake up the day after Coventry and say, "I must be the biggest idiot who has ever walked the planet." And I'll be calling those guys and begging them to get back together. "What I have done?" Hey, the thought has crossed my mind. Trey Anastasio
bradm Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I'm leaving Friday morning from Ottawa.. HOpefully bright & early. Anything worth checking out Thursday night in Ottawa by the way? The only thing I know of is Raggamuffin (Ottawa's regular Thursday night reggae party) at Babylon, but it and "bright and early Friday morning" do not go together. The first set usually doesn't start until 11:30pm, and the second set usually ends well after 2:00am. Aloha, Brad
guigsy Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 looks like the writing is on the wall... what a great fundraiser!
DevO Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 thanks bradM.. yeah unless its something really crazy i'll likely just stay in and get some rest.. much needed rest too, as i have a frickin PARASITE!! i'm on the mend though.
TimmyB Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I think hamilton, Rachael and I will be leaving around noon on Friday.
Ms.Huxtable Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I'm leaving Friday morning from Ottawa.. HOpefully bright & early. Anything worth checking out Thursday night in Ottawa by the way? How about dinner at casa de Bouche? We'd love to see you KevO.
guigsy Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 KevO, you'd be a fool to turn that down! ::
Tickler Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 what border is the best to cross?? coming from Kingston of course..
gentlemonkey Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 The only way to go is via MAGOG, QC. Take the 10 east of montreal and then south to the border at the 91 south... when you get across the border, its only 20 miles to the exit to highway 5. Which is where all the traffic is converging.
