fluffhead77 Posted April 27, 2005 Author Report Posted April 27, 2005 aye, 'tis a grand choice of cover...also the knives out
Kaidy Mae Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 aye, 'tis a grand choice of cover...also the knives outYeah, I'm itchin' to hear the Knives Out too. Could go either way. Great song though.
Homestar_Runner Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I have heard some mixed reviews for this show. I really like that Trey has taken a new direction. I will miss some of the horns though. Hopefully he will have some guest horns for a couple of shows. And I agree those are some great cover songs. Particularly "Sitting in Limbo" and "In the Light". I am also interested to hear the new band's version of "Oz is ever Floating". I think it is interesting that Trey has decided to cover an Oysterhead song.
MarcO Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I really like that Trey has taken a new direction. From the 4/1/05 Higher Ground show I heard, there really is no major new direction(s) Trey is going in. Granted that's just one show, but man was it ever confusing, underwhelming and ultimately disappointing!
secondtube Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 you echo my sentiments EXACTLY!his band, groove, and energy, is REALLY missing the horns...(and some fresh ideas!)
bouche Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I really really enjoyed the higher ground show.Does that make ME crazy or YOU crazy?
paisley Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I'd just like Trey to play what Trey decides he wants to play, horns or no (was getting a little tired of the brass myself... it was great for a while, like cocaine)guy used to be able to play a mean guitar, thats what I'd like to hear more of
secondtube Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 well, he used his horns to make up for his lack of ripping energy...maybe now that he dropped them, he'll pick that up again....way back when, what got me into phish was trey's guitar work....
Guest Low Roller Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 KNIVES OUT? *jaw agap* Wow! What the heck is up with 'dat?!
Booche Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 "KNIVES OUT? *jaw agap*" You are going to complain viciously when you hear it.
Guest Low Roller Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 I prefer the original obviously, but it's cute hearing Trey trying to be Thom. Thanks for posting the link!!
Kaidy Mae Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Eek! I can't believe I made it through the entire 4:02...he lost me at 45 seconds (when the drunk sounding wailing started). Sweet God! Like a cheese grader on my brain. Thom's not gonna like this.
Booche Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 "I prefer the original obviously, but it's cute hearing Trey trying to be Thom. "Wow, I didnt expect us to agree on this version.
paisley Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 "I prefer the original obviously, but it's cute hearing Trey trying to be Thom. "Wow, I didnt expect us to agree on this version.nice to hear Trey taking some chances... would've loved to have heard this live (thanks for the link Booche)
fluffhead77 Posted April 28, 2005 Author Report Posted April 28, 2005 where's michael "Soft G" Gordon when you need him? He would have sung that Knivesout well...
bouche Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 He's probably just using a vocal pitch shifter and turned the knob to 'Slightly Flat'.... that's also known as the THom Yorke switch.
Guest Low Roller Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 That's spelled "Slightly Phlat" Mr. Bouche, IF that is your real name...
