SaggyBalls Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 (edited) last night i went shopping for my dad's birthday at Record Runner and bought the first bit of music for myself in a long time...it's been months.i'm not about to list my dad's presents just in case he's a lurker....picked up a double CD called Kompilation - it's a Kranky records sampler.this is not at all a jamband record.i figured 'what the heck' - because i've liked every kranky release i've ever heard - which until now it had really only been fontanelle, godspeed you black emperor, the spiny anteaters, and bowery electric.i'm listening to the first CD as i type this, and it's pretty weird. there were a bunch of key purchases i could've made along the back wall...but for some reason i decided on this one.so far i'm impressed. i'll have to warn you though...Keith Fullerton Whitman makes some very strange music for the serge modular synthesizer.www.kranky.neta solid ethereal/ambient purchase. not very beatsy... CyberHippie Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 At lunch today I had the urge, so I stopped by Rotate This. Picked up 'Jurassic 5 - Quality Control' and "The Roots of Dub Funk Vol 4 - Rise of the Eclectic dread".I was feeling the urge to get a little hip hop, and figured it was finally time to try out J5. Couldn't find anything else I was looking for and figured the Dub compliation would be tastey.
