can-o-phish Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 Okay, where to begin...It was this time last year that The Siters were playing some amazing nights during May. Some of you out there have a copy of the May 31 show and would probably agree...Well, it's May again and for the third week The Sisters just simply were incredible. When I first started going to Phish shows back in '93, I met people who were lucky enough to have taken in some of the nights they played at Nectar's. It was always in my mind how fortunate it was for those to have that experience, to witness and share in that spontaneous energy. There is no question that this is what we, the regulars and others who come to The Orbit Room are witnessing every Monday night. Usually on a "Long Weekend Monday" the crowd is a little thin and unexpected moments are bound to occur despite the lack of patrons. But last night when the Sisters hit the stage the room was filling up and it just didn't stop. Whether last night's full moon had some influence on the music or not, they played two solid sets that included everything from The Beatles "Eleanor Rigby" to an Alice Cooper (?) cover not to mention their own mind warping originals. The first set was just over an hour and the second with encore clocked in at 92 minutes and they didn't stop until 2:00am. The crowd was having a blast bantering with Kevin as he is never one to back down from a "battle of wits". And a Calhoun story thrown in always adds to the ever present humour that is part of the night.I'm transferring the show and hopefully Bouche will have a spot to host the entire night as this, in my humble opinion, was one of the best nights I've seen them play.So looking forward to this coming Monday and Folk Alarm with MM&W. Rumours are already flying that after MM&W finish at Nathan Phillips Square that they'll be heading down to The Orbit to possibly jam with The Sisters. One can only hope...
fluffhead77 Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 DAMMIT! I knew I shoulda got off the couch last night...can't wait to see the Folk Alrm show with the MMW...
DevO Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 So looking forward to this coming Monday and Folk Alarm with MM&W. Rumours are already flying that after MM&W finish at Nathan Phillips Square that they'll be heading down to The Orbit to possibly jam with The Sisters. One can only hope...I believe you got your dates mixed up!MMW is in Toronto next month: Monday June 27, 2005. (They are playing in Norway this coming Monday!)That will be insane if any or all of MMW shows up. I wonder though, if leaving the MMW show early would be required in order to even make it into the Orbit with rumours like that floating around. It might have to be a bit of a gamble eh?
bouche Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 I'm transferring the show and hopefully Bouche will have a spot to host the entire night as this HAHAHA ! "Hopefully" Don't tease me I would like to test the bandwidth speeds. They probably aren't that great, but at least it works. Maybe we should setup some torrents of the best shows and have at least 20 people seeding non-stop. I can't wait to hear this. You're never off the mark on your show assessments.
can-o-phish Posted May 25, 2005 Author Report Posted May 25, 2005 Heh Heh, thanks for the concern. What I meant was I'm looking forward to this coming Monday to see if it is anything like last year's end of May night AND the upcoming show at Nathan Phillips Square. Rumour has it there will be extra percussion set up at The Orbit just in case...Monday's show is still causing 99% of the voices in my head to sound like wahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwahwah.............
