Guest Low Roller
CBC SPORTS ONLINE - After months of rumour and speculation, Manchester United has agreed to a transfer fee with Barcelona for the sale of superstar David Beckham. The deal is reportedly contingent on several conditions being met, including the election of Joan Laporta as president of the Barcelona team. "Manchester United confirms that club officials have met Joan Laporta, the leading candidate for the presidency of Barcelona," the club said in a statement. "These meetings have resulted in an offer being made for the transfer of David Beckham to Barcelona. "This offer is subject to a number of conditions and critically to both Mr. Laporta being elected president on Sunday 15 June and Barcelona subsequently reaching agreement with David Beckham on his personal contract. Beckham, 28, has scored 85 goals in 394 games since signing with the Red Devils as a trainee on July 8, 1991. With United, the Leytonstone native has won eight Premiership titles, four FA Cups, a European Champions Cup and World Club Cup. Beckham has also netted 11 goals in 80 international appearances for England, which he captains. United's chief executive Peter Kenyon met last week with Laporta's envoy, Sandro Rosell, and supposedly demanded 30-million pounds ($67.3 million) for Beckham. "Beckham is the image of the player that we want for Barcelona," Rosell said. "But for us, a good price would be around 30-million euros ($48.3 million)." Davey Boy 2.0
Barce's loss, IMO. All Bex is good for is crossing the ball, free kicks and selling merchandise. Can't tackle, can't run at the opposition, gets sucked out of position... whatever, ManUre fans will nonetheless be upset
Booche
Not one's that are able to see the big picture. That is a TON of money................ Liverpool would have been wise to have done the same with Owen a couple of years back, when he would have commanded some money.
