Im going home Donny
Based on a true story-Deus, just a short walk from the resorts that coddle the tourist trade is a slum built to contain the poor of Rio de Janeiro. Street gangs of children run the place dealing guns and drugs. City of God spans the 1960s to the 1980s,moving with whiplash velocity thanks to the terse script that Braulio Mantovani has adapted from a massive novel by Paulo Lins. Directed by Fernando Meirelles. Thats a blurb from the By-towns paper...what a great flick. I reccomend this one.135 min. Portuguese with english subtitles. The movies so intense that you won't even notice the subtitles. Playing today at 4:10 and on monday at 8:55. $9.00 without membership or 5.50 w/membership. A membership for one year is only 9.50.....a bargoon.
Freak By Night
It's supposed to be wicked movie. Ebert & Roeper couldn't believe it did not win best foreign flick at the Oscars. I really wanna see it but I'll probably wait until it's out on rental.
