Who is Fritz?

Philzonedotcom dude I think.

Damn, I haven't kept up with the Philzone the past couple of years. I didn't know Fritz but I recognize him as a big part of the tapestry that is the Philzone family. Sad news but what a way to be honoured by Phil. Fare thee well. RIP.

Who is Fritz?

near as I can tell, John Fritz was a core member of the philzone.com site. He had a heart transplant several years ago, was a huge Deadhead, and Phil became aware of him via these two concerns. He collapsed at work this week and passed away.

last night's show was Phil's dedication to him, even to the Uncle John's Band opener - apparently John Fritz had several nieces living in the Boston area. That must have been pretty freakin' heavy. :o

may I just say that Phil Lesh is a class act, a beautiful dude, a real gentleman and is truly a hippie in the best sense of the word.

wow.

I hung out with Fritz at Vibes acouple years ago-real nice guy. He was a friend of my New England pal Leblanc. 33 years old is far to young-he survived 9 years with a heart transplant. His wake and funeral are Sunday/Monday in Framingham,Ma. The Brokedown must of been very emotional for those who knew him in attendence.

wow.

between this and his very cool stand on archive, i'd wholeheartedly agree with you.

although i still think he should leave most of the singing to others (~);)

This show looks stupendous. I would die to hear the Dolphins, most people know Richie Havens version but Tim Buckley's and Beth Orton's are good, not sure who wrote it, the Long Black Veil, Cats, St. Stephen, Unbroken (!!!) and Brokedown push this show way over the top. Makes sense that it was a memorial of sorts.
