Jaimoe
I think the show will find another home. From Variety.com
peipunk
Hell yeeeeah! Although, if it goes to Showtime, would I get it here on ExpressVu??
Jaimoe
Hey Punk, I think if Showtime gets it, it may find its way to Showcase or TMN ( even though TMN has a deal with HBO ).No matter: There's always DVD's.
peipunk
I was thinking maybe Showcase....and I'll be buying every DVD set when it comes out anyway. Until then, there's always bit torrents as well!

bouche
Hey, this is REALLY great news! If 2 other networks are seriously interested, there's NO WAY that it'll be off of the air. Also, if it gets on cable...we could get to actually hear Lucille tell everyone to go fuck themselves! Diggzz
I was talking with someone here at work work and we were both wondering why this show seems so expensive to shoot. It's not like they are huge name stars (except for Charlize this year, btw thanks for that) so I am curious as to where the expense actually comes from. bradm
I wonder if a lot of the cost comes from the amount of footage they do outside of a studio. I know they have a lot of outdoor shots, in a lot of different places, and even the indoor scenes look like they were filmed in actual places, not on a constructed studio lot. Most sitcoms, in comparison, are shot in a studio (with an audience), with very few sets.Aloha,Brad

Ensemble casts tend to cost a lot of money too.
d_rawk
I stopped briefly while flicking channels about a week ago when I saw Jerry Seinfeld on Larry King. Seinfeld mentioned that it wasn't until the fourth season that his show really took off and broke out of its cult audience status. He said they were allowed to stay on the air because station execs felt that while the show may have a small audience, it was a 'moneyed audience'. Pushed about what that meant, he wouldn't elaborate, but seemed cynical about it. I got the impression that Jerry was saying that they only gave the show a chance because it had a Jewish audience, and Jerry seemed to be feeling a bit contemptous about that fact. The thing I don't get about Arrested Development is that they kept moving the slot, didn't seem to be promoting it or calling attention to the new airing day, and then it just suddenly disappeared without explanation (as far as I could tell). Hiatus? Cancelled? If you were fortunate enough to figure out that it was airing on Mondays, you were left with the new puzzle about where it went. So you stop tuning in. And then they cite low viewership numbers as the reason to cancel? If you were trying to kill a show, this would be the way to do it.
