CyberHippie Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Man! Now that's what we shoulda got at Bonnaroo!
MarcO Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Lady With a Fan is another part of the song "Terrapin Station" that can be found on the original album. The Dead rarely performed it. I guess "The Dead" are doing it now. They also played "Reuben & Cerise" the other night.
Booche Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 CyberHippie, although I havent seen or heard either of those shows, I would EASILY go with that Bonnaroo set ya'll got...............
backbacon Posted June 19, 2003 Author Report Posted June 19, 2003 quote:Originally posted by MarcO: Lady With a Fan is another part of the song "Terrapin Station" that can be found on the original album. Is not 'Lady with a Fan' the start of the song - "Let my inspiration Flow".... that is played at the start; everything up to the "Inspiration, move me brightly..." line. GD played it all the time but it was never really noted as such, just considered part of Terrapin Staion. I've just never seen it AFTER the Terrapin station part. I think it may be a mistake in the setlist. I could very well be wrong on all of this.
Stapes Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Wow, Cosmic Charlie. I don't think they've played that in a while?
MarcO Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 I'm thinking you're right, Keri. I may be getting confused with the section called "Alhambra", which I think the Dead played, like, once, and then dropped it, leaving the "Terrapin Station" we all now recognize. I used to know these things right off the top of my head. Shows ya what happens when you stop paying as much attention!
Booche Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Not since December, Stapes. As for that Terrapin stuff, isnt it called At A Siding or something? Oh, here we go. This is the track listing on the album: Terrapin Transit At A Siding Terrapin Flyer Refrain
MarcO Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Now, I'm just totally confused. I'm in over my head. Outta here......
CyberHippie Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Booche - on paper that looks like a pretty sweet show (Bonnaroo). But I dunno, maybe the chocolate mushrooms were distracting me or it could have been being a couple hundred yards from the stage. I'm downloading it now to give it a second listen though.
beaster Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 the bonnaroo set looked lik the winner IMO. china doll, attics, drkstr>st stephen>william tell bridge>11 also.......the first bit of the second set was the ending of jerrys last show inverted.
CyberHippie Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 quote: Originally posted by bouche: downloading it now as well...5 more hours! Wow, only 76 hours for me!
peacedudeII Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 There is a Bit Torrent Download of the show that is really really fast. I already have half the show. www.digitalpanic.org
Booche Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 "I just wish Rob was still getting to sing more... I think he's got a great voice.... Long live the dead!!" Long live MoMack!!!!!!!!
CyberHippie Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 That's wierd because that's where I'm grabbing it from, and I'm getting a whopping 2-5 kb/s. What up with that?
jay sanislo Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 it says that show is closed now on that site
Booche Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Barraco has this to say about Bonnaroo: What was your musical highlight from last night? The musical highlight was the whole Drums/Space and then the jam out of Space. We had been talking about breaking down into little units, duos and trios. Last night the Space that preceded the Drums was really cool and the Drums was great, the guys were really entrain. And then Phil and I went out and just started playing and that was cool. I'm hoping that throughout the tour that's going to be a theme. Different units are going to play. The other highlight was the "Attics" encore, I thought that was beautiful Interesting, veeeeery interesting....................
MoMack Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 I just wish Rob was still getting to sing more... I think he's got a great voice.... Long live the dead!!

Terrapin starts with the line "Inspiration, move me brightly". The part MarcO referred to as Alhambra is the part on the album known as At A Siding - the part that begins with "While you were gone/ These spaces filled with darkness" - which, as he correctly noted, was only played live once or twice. I have no idea why the album gives it one name, and the 'heads always gave it another. I mean, I can understand why it would be called "Alhambra", but why the different titles? All of the other sections noted by Booche above are instrumental sections... Hope this helps , Brian.
Booche Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 hamilton, you just saved my life........................
hamilton Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 quote: Originally posted by Booche: hamilton, you just saved my life........................ That's what I'm here for!! I should charge money, or something... (Just to confuse things even further, though, I don't think GD ever sang the "Alhambra" part - they just played it...)
zimmerman pt3 Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 ALHAMBRA, my phriends, made it's only live performance in late '77 (if memory serves correct) and it's a STELLAR Terrapin all around!! That leads into a mind-shredding NFA!! LOVE ALHAMBRA just saw the Dead on CBS, KC JONES was slick daddy -oh! JOAN!
