Jay Funk Dawg
NuFunk.ca Fridays presents... FRIDAY, JAN 6th, 2006 Halifax's Danny Mainstreet Band with guests Jay Cleary (of High Plains Drifter) and Wildfire Gypsy Co-op 817 Queen St. www.thedannymainstreetband.com www.gypsyco-op.com What makes The Danny Mainstreet Band essentially maritime is not their sound, but their unbowed determination to make their mark in their own uncompromising way. A carved-in-stone pact between brothers determined to make their own destiny, or go down in flames trying. THAT is what makes them a maritime band. Currently on a National Tour, The Danny Mainstreet Band brings it's funk-rock edge to the Gypsy Co-op this Friday with local Toronto singer/songwriter Jay Cleary and up and coming rock act WildFire. Jay Funk Dawg
I caught Danny Mainstreet last night at the Horseshoe Tavern. I sat watching them with Laurence Currie, their engineer (credits : Sloan's One Chord to Another - Gandarva's Sold for a Smile).. He think this band has more promise than The Trews.. as they are in that vein of rawk. I will be jammin' it up as the opening act... probably as a solo acoustic act... This band is a Maritime band and should be good for getting a Maritime crew out.. Let me know if any of you are interested... to get on the $8 reduced list email me: jay.cleary@gmail.com peace!
