Mike Gordon had a side project called "Grappa Boom" with Jamie Masefield and Doug Perkins, fellow Vermont musicians both. That' separate from this.

Also, why make the assumption Mike is touring with this project? It's news about an album being released, not a tour.

Yeah, I also listened to the Trey interview. I don't necessarily think Phish won't tour. Yeah, it sounds like they are more keen to record a sweet ass album the right way (as opposed to the Round Room, which IMHO should never have been released & marketed as a studio album. Maybe released as a special rehearsal

cd thru phish dry goods or something seemed more appropriate for the effort they put into it, but thats me and off topic anyways).

Regarding Mike, maybe the cd is with the

"El Buho" band. That is quite a band, I have a live show from Antone's in Austin, TX. Man, those guys just kick the crap out of most jambands and you never hear any mention of it. Hopefully they are still playing together and maybe the cd is with this band.

....

but

.....

I think pretty much anything with Mike on it, whether its with Bela, Grappa Boom, or whatever would be sweet. Mike is at the top of his game. That Mike/Leo cd CLONE is awesome.

i'm not really sure where i got the impression that they are going to tour....

i think it might have been from reading the responses on the board i read the thread initially from....

i guess i hope they do tour, and my hopes may have got the better of me....

either way, it is new news, and its cool news at that...

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet:

from Rollingstone.com

PHISH bassist MIKE GORDON has enlisted bandmate JON FISHMAN, BELA FLECK and BRUCE HAMPTON to play on his solo debut, "Inside In," due this fall . . .

Just read this on a board, and it was collaberated apparently at the Outside Out Q/A period....

I guess this furthur proves no phish fall tour, but this sounds damn cool....

Hopefully Toronto is on their tour plans...

Oh and went to ROllingstone.com, but i couldn't find anything about it...

i think inside in is all the folks that played with mule on the off the deep end cd, entwistle, bootsy, bass from cream, cant remember the rest, i may be wrong too, maybe outside out is the mule cd, and inside in is just mikes stuff, i heard another interview with mike talking about the inside in cd, says he loves it,and it hasnt left his disc rotation since he made it.

i wanna hear it [big Grin]

All I know about it is that it's coming out August 19 and it's on Ropeadope. There is supposed to be a website (insidein.com), but it's not up and running yet.

Got a cool sticker of Gordo's head in profile with 'Unlearn Yourself' underneath.

UNLEARN YOURSELF

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We're pleased to announce that Mike Gordon will release his solo debut
"INSIDE IN" later this summer on Ropeadope Records.
Four years in the making, INSIDE IN started with OUTSIDE OUT, Mike's
first feature film. With the theatrical and DVD releases behind him,
Mike went back to the mostly instrumental soundtrack and significantly
reworked the material, creating songs out of jams and adding lyrics to
pieces that previously had none. Though there's clearly a link between
film and album, it is only loosely a soundtrack.
All fifteen tracks were penned by Mike, who plays all guitars and
basses as well as Wurlitzer, accordion, washing machine, cow tilt, etc.
In addition, Gordon's backed by an all-star band: drummer Russ Lawton,
James Harvey on trombone, piano and clavinet, and Gordon Stone
on pedal steel. Special guests include Jon Fishman, Bela Fleck, Jeff
Coffin, Craig Johnson, Col. Bruce Hampton (ret.), Future Man, Buddy Cage,
and Vassar Clements.
The album will be in stores August 26. Watch this space for pre-order
information over the next couple of weeks. For more info, go to
http://www.ropeadope.com.
