Ottawa Canada Day Celebrations??

Just thought I'd throw this out to anyone who is homeless to any celebrations this coming July 1 Canada Day.

**************

A little belated, but never late than better.... err, however that goes. Ok, for those of living in the nation's capital..you might have noticed the intense amount of Canadian flags draping from office buildings around the city. Reason: someone's got a birthday coming up... in about 10 days, Ottawa shuts down and the taps open up for the biggest party in Canada - July 1st. This time, we're opening it up, big time. 40 Main St. (and friends) are hosting the Canada Day bash for 2003, and all your old favorites are back - beer, food, music, and people that you only care to see once (maybe twice) a year. Jules and Pottie are throwing the party in their backyard along with a few of the neighboring houses. Basically, the entire backyard will be turned into a big dance floor and bar... although, careful with the break dancing, its gravel. We're doing some upgrades to the party from last year, namely - more beer. We had seven kegs on the go last year, due to inflation and my incredible desire to throw a bigger party every year, we're picking up a nice even number - how does 10 kegs sound? Nice and cold thanks to the miracle of summer hockey.... We'll also have a few other things on the go at this shaker, we're going to

provide all the food, and by all the food - I mean a shit load of hot dogs, we'll even throw in the buns.. just call me Santa Fran. Because of a little incident we like to call a broken crapper at last year's party, we're going to keep the peeing outside this year. Tossed around the idea of digging a

ditch and hanging up a shower curtain, but the neighbors didn't buy it - so we're renting a couple of Johnny on the Spots - or Jenny on the Spot, depending if you sit or stand. What's a huge bash without live music? So, providing the entertainment in the backyard is Jiva Ju (you might have seen them playing at Cafe Dekcuf or running naked down the Queensway after their gigs)... they've had a bunch of shows since last year's party and they're really looking forward to rocking the place come July 1. There'll be a few other guests going them on stage throughout the afternoon so keep an eye out for the banjo playing leprechaun...

The important stuff:

Cost: $15 a head

What will that get you: one cup, all the beer you want to fill it with, a few hot dogs once we fire up the barbie, all the music you can handle - and probably a bit more

Where: 40 Main (corner of Greenfield and Main - close to the queensway west

on ramp and the colonel By road)

All I need (as always) is to know the attendance. I'm looking at 10 kegs minimum... but I really don't want to run out of brew at 4pm if 250 show up and we only counted on 150... so shoot me an email and let me know how many friends you plan on bringing with you....

This party is going to freakin rock - so don't miss it, otherwise, bad

things will happen to you.. courtesy of the Newfoundland mafia... oh yeah.

Have fun

**************

Thats it in a big nutshell, so anyone interested in coming over, please send me an e-mail (jpottie@hotmail.com) and let me know, also if you play music and wanna jam as well, mention it to me in you're e-mail.

One more thing, this upcoming Sat. July 5 th we'll be hosting another party, this one more of a full day jam band event outside, somewhat like the last party we had at 40 main street, keep your eyes peeled for a post on it in the next few days, it's called "Jam Back at the House"

Don't forget Ferriswheeler has your Canada Day Eve festivities at Dekcuf on Monday night!

This might be the longest weekend ever... [big Grin][Eek!]

Festivities start at probably 1pm and will go till probably 9 ish, or when it's hitting close to dark, then of course the fireworks bonanza and Nero after party. And of course the Monday night Ferriswheeler is a great way to warm up for it. This will be a most excellent next few weeks.

Word is by a semi reliable source, the fight will be happenning, but sort of off the cuff that day, we'll mention it early round 1 pm, find the nearest field, and let the two punching bags of jelly(Julina Goosney and Kevin "mick Jagger" Carey) go at it for 5 rounds. so anyone who wants to be entertained best come early for it. The problem with having in in the yard at our place is the gravel, they don't wanna fight on it (pansies) and no one has come up with an alternate solution except winging it the day of the fight.

heres a good on for you guys, Kevin Carey(the challanger for the fight) came by the house last night ready to bring on the pain, with more than a few bubblies in him he congures up an e-mail to everyone saying that the fight is in fact going down between 12 and 2 on Tues July 1, 2003. The challanger has challanged rightfully so!!

So there it is folks, it will be going down, in fact on the small ring sized piece of lawn we have in our back yard!! Hopefully the 2 fighters will have the balls to stick it out for 5 rounds!

Bump ... is this still going on? Al I've heard is hype for the weekend party (which sadly I can't make it to), but Fiona and I are up for the Canada Day party if it is still happening.

Cheers,
